Minecrafts new textures are great, but:
Faithful 32x is great because it stays with minecrafts theme.

Conquest Reforged https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/texture-packs/conquest-reforged-resource-pack is amazing and comes with some awesome looking water, I'd also recommend installing optifine https://optifine.net/home and some shaders if you want an amazing (although laggy) experience :)

I love texture packs, I have definitely got some suggestions:

Ignaf's Quadral resourcepack is one of my favourites, I love the colours

Rodrigo's Pack is very simplistic, I'm not really sure your taste in that area but I'm suggesting it anyway :P

C-tetra is another quite simplistic one, but I love how smooth and light everything feels when I use it

BDcraft is a sort of cartoonish pack, it's really well-done

These are my personal favourites, I'm not really sure what sort your into, and if you're not really one for texture packs then maybe neither are you, but I find it fun to switch it up every so often, and I hope these help! Only thing is that when you're downloading packs, sometimes it takes you to dodgy sites, so be careful :P
