Yes hi. I am here again. Last somethin' ago... ahhhh *checks* two weeks ago! (I mean to be fair my brain was making itself busy with anxiety last weekend, so that's probably about right) I uh, made a little Jam guide thing?
Originally it was just advertising for my jams, but then I was going through jams for my own purposes, looking for ones to participate in. And I thought, 'well what if I shared this with other people' and there went over an hour of my life! Yay! I'm not distractible, just... quick to jump on sudden ideas. Of which I have a lot of.
Anyway, people liked it. I could just do it as a wall post again, but I have a bunch of other things I want to talk about, and I've already made a few wall posts today and don't want to become That Person. Besides, Wall Posts are kinda annoying when you put a lot of text into them, so this is just going to be less painful.
Okay well… let’s just get into this! I’m going to open with my jams, because it feels kinda weird to mix them in and not tell you that they are mine? My as well just be honest with my advertising.
↣ Everyday Reshade-ish Jam
Starting with the one closest to ending, and the most basic. This is a Ranked Skin Re-shade Jam that depending on how you enter can also be a Colour Palette Jam.
↣ High Fantasy Character Jam
My themed jam, with a bit of an extra twist. This is a Ranked Skin Jam, that requires you to write about an original character of your own creation as well as make a skin of them. It is set in a High Fantasy world, specifically the medieval level of technology kind, so it is that sort of skin that you would be making.
I made a guide for character design/development to go with this jam, because a lot of people seemed to have trouble with the writing section, particularly with having a developed character. So that is a relevant resource.
↣ Skin Base Jam
An Unranked Skin Jam that asks you to make a free-to-use skin base and submit it to the jam. All skin bases are free to use/shade into a full skin.
I'm going to go in alphabetical order, and not all of the jams are going to get included, sorry guys, but not every jam is going to get listed here! Fandom jams, everything jams, and stuff that's about to end (three days or less left) are going to be some of the casualties in this cruel hard world.
↣Bilge Rat Jam Season 4
A jam that has two teams, the Renegades and the Mermaids. You pick a side, and make skins for your side! Details on the page, but uh yeah.

Make bread skins. The most bread-y may win.
↣ Capybara Everything
Make Capybara related things. Simple enough I suppose. If you like Capybaras… and happen to make content that is Textures (Skins, Mob Skins, or Texture packs), Mods, or Datapacks. This might work for you.
↣ Camping With Me
Camping themed things! Allows Maps, Skins, Mob Skins, Texture Packs, Mods, Data Packs and Blogs. Which, well that basically covers everything! The creator doesn’t like gore, but otherwise, whatever camping thing you can think of goes!
↣ Cat Kingdom
Make Cat Skins (Mob Skins For the Cat Model)
↣ Colour the Build Castle Makeover
Ranked Build Jam! Like a recolour + reshade but for a build! You get a base build and you pick the block palette + theme with which to to use to texture it, and detail it! It’s a big build so tools like WorldEdit and Axiom are recommended.
Points for finishing (theme adherence), unique colour combo (which is less subjective than normal, I suppose.), details, and vibe which is your chosen theme cohesion and strength I guess?
↣ Cowboys
Cowboy themed things, 1820-1920 sort of cowboys, not sci-fi or fantastical cowboys. Otherwise all Cowboy themed stuff goes!
↣ Cute Dog Skins
Cute dog related things! Player skins, mob skins, and mods specifically! Make it cute and canine!
↣ Dread 2 Jam
Horror content, Maps, Skins, Mob Skins, Texture Packs, Mods, Data Packs and Blogs.
↣ Ender Jam - Totally Not An End Update
Anything end update! What do you want in the end? Make it, and like put it in this jam. Player Skins, Mob Skins, Texture Packs, Mods and Data Packs. That’s what you can do. Dunno why no maps, fine enough theme!
↣ Fleets of Fortune
Ranked Build Jam, make a ship! A pirate ship! Must be made for traveling on water, but otherwise… sci-fi, fantasy, historic? Up to you! Yay! And not terrible criteria. So that’s nice
↣ Food Jam
Make any food into a player skin. Judged mostly on shading and how well you adhere to the theme, which you know, that’s brilliant. Love it. Only one totally subjective criteria.
↣ Froggy Ever Thing
Frogs. Just… frogs? Frog girls?
↣ Fruitful Skin Jam
Ranked Skin Jam, make a skin based off a fruit. Simple enough theme… until we have to ask The Tomato Question. Also no criteria rewards skin quality, and it’s a 25% of entries finalists jam, so some red flags… but you know. You do you.
↣ Futuristic Jam
Make a skin themed around the future. Only one quarter of the points goes to subjectivity! Huh. Although the theme is kinda vague so it might be half… *hem* no points for shading, but colour and detail.
↣ Ghast Jam
Anything Ghasts! Maps, Skins, Mob Skins, Texture Packs, Mods and Data Packs!
↣ Greenest of Beans Jam
Ranked Skin Jam, make a skin only using the colour green. No points for shading, although points for detail, and colour use. But you know. I’m just here to speak words…

A jam where you make pigs. In Maps, Skins, Mob Skins, Texture Packs, Mods, Data Packs… it’s open to a lot.

Make skins, but pink. Themed pink, or only with the colour pink, people seem to have done both with this jam.

Okay. Well for a description of this jam it’s probably best to go to the page. I would guess you would have already heard of it, seeing that it’s a admin/moderator run thing. But you know. Felt weird to not mention it… autumnal theme.

Anything Redstone! And like actually anything. Maps, Skins, Mob Skins, Texture Packs, Mods, Data Packs and Blogs!

Unranked Player Skin Jam. Make a school kid! Both boys and girls are allowed (despite the name) and you could put a creeper into a school uniform if you really wanted to. Huh?

Ranked Mob Skin Jam, about marine biology *tries to exclamation mark and fails* don’t look at me like that, I started doing this like I don’t know four hours ago? I ran out of pep. Anyway… marine biology, make it fishy, underwater-y, I don’t know. Make it quality.
↣ Space Craft Jam
Ranked Build Jam about building spacecraft! Militarised sci-fi spacecraft! Lore and loresome descriptions encouraged! And I don’t hate the criteria guys! It’s a miracle! Requires you to build both an interior and an exterior.
↣ Spring is Here!
Spring themed jam for player skins! Nice and simple.
↣ Trident Jam 2
A jam about retexturing Tridents, ranked with a lot of emphasis on how different your trident is from… that of the boring uncreative- okay you get the idea.
↣ Watermelon Jam
Watermelon themed anything… Maps, Skins, Mob Skins, Texture Packs, Mods and Data Packs… but no blogs. So sorry watermelon bloggers but you're going to have to go elsewhere.
↣ Wild Jam
Anything nature related, as long as it's a map, skin, texture, mod or data pack.

I made a mistake guys. FOUR HOURS. What- WHY DID I KEEP GOING? Why did I not NOTICE? Never again. I didn't even get all the jams. I don't care. Who is going to use this list anyway? Is this research? *hysterical wheeze* Well I learned things! And none of them are GOOD. I am SALTIER THEN EVER that's for sure.
I'm not even done. I have other updates to do. And well. *cracks knuckles* I'm gonna write this with a massive headache and no patience. LETS GO!
Right so most of you who know me, know that aside from Jams I make player skins, a lot of skins. There is a forum thread here that actually has a poll I'm running about what sort of skin content you might want to see from me, if you know, you care about such things.
I switched from doing skin requests, to suggestions from a form a while ago, and while I won't be running The Form of Doom again for a bit (busy, haven't finished the ones from last round). I am considering bringing out a different form, which basically lets you sorta ask me to make a version of your Persona in one of the universes that I'm working on.
That's the plan anyway, I'm uh. Not gonna do that right now, because well. I'm busy. Might actually be taking some time off skins for a bit, to catch up on writing projects. I took the last few days off from that because Of Painful Affliction and I wanna get back to that.
That's two points in one. Ha. Look at me go.
Another thing, a while ago I made this jam making guide thing and I might be getting to the point that I can formalise a blog version. New and improved, with better organisation and examples! I've made most of a plan on what it's gonna look like, obviously I'm not writing it tonight. Ha. I probably won't get to it for a while honestly, but I've started, and intellectual work has been done.

I joined this like cutesy skin jam ages ago but got stuck and didn't figure out what I wanted to make for it and it ended before I even came up with anything-

Have you ever encountered a reshade jam? No? Yes? I would link mine but I am on a phone, and that would be complicated.
They have the potential to eliminate some of the difficulties of having to decide what to do ya see!
I mean I have definitely proved terrible at entering jams I don't have an idea for in the past. And a lot of my entries have definitely been lackluster but ya know. That's the way of Chaos

But my choice of changing the outfit for a yellow dress went HORRIBLY wrong and, also am I allowed to like add more colours than whats provided?
I've just been using the ones from the skin so far and it's uh *cough cough* limiting my perfect skin drawing abilities a little. Definitely the colours' fault, mhm!

You are allowed to add two more base colours but you can't like use them a huge amount (and you must use four of the base colours somewhere), but you can use as many shading colours as you would like.

Maybe I'm just sleepy, like I think I get it but also I dunno if I fully do, like I added a burgundy/reddish-purpley colour and idk if I used too much of it or not.

Sorry I'm late!
My vote has been cast! I'm *gasp for air* sorry I took 5 days to run all the way over here... Anyway... Jams... I join them whenever I like the theme or concept but! (Big "but" here) I'll join them only if I have inspiration to make something for them and if I don't have too much on my plate...
Last 2 jams I was in was the Once Upon a Story Skin Jam which had me hooked with the way we were supposed to get our themes using made up book titles from a given genre. And the Embers of the Forge III: Rebirth jam, which was fun as well and finally gave me the idea that I was looking for my goblin skin project.
The way they were ranked annoyed me a bit but oh well... Who am I to judge if people wish to rank stuff based on subjective terms like Quality and Execution... Yes I was a bit mad that I got 4th place in the embers one... I was ecstatic by it but finding out I lost the top 3 by a measily point left me with a bit of a bitter taste in my mouth...
Anyway if I join another jam in the future... it might be your High Fantasy one... it got me some ideas... I just need to clear my schedule for it first. XD

Don't wait too intensely it's taking me a while. Mostly cause I keep getting distracted by other things, but that's happening because it is A Lot.

Hey Eloise! I really enjoyed your post—it's super well-organized and makes it so much easier to discover interesting jams without having to dig around. The "High Fantasy Character Jam" especially stood out to me since it blends visual creativity with storytelling, which you don’t see too often.
Actually, I recently read on a blog how these kinds of jams help artists grow by working within specific themes, and your list is a great real-world example of that. Thanks for putting it all together so clearly!

There is another jam doing something similar right now Character Design Jam but that one is unranked, so a little different. Also un-themed so, you can do whatever you feel like for your character, which has got to be appealing?

I don't know if you can tell, but I did not make that jam list in the order that it is displayed, and so I am varying levels of energised and SO DONE in a very shuffled sequence.
