I switched to Java a while ago but decided to give Bedrock another try. Here’s what happened. I started off with a classic survival playthrough, and right away, things took a turn. The day cycle seemed to fly by — it was literally night in what felt like five seconds. As soon as the sun set, a skeleton began relentlessly spamming arrows at me, and to make matters worse, my health never regenerated. Needless to say, it didn’t go well.
This got me thinking about my time with Java. In contrast, when I play Java, I feel like the gameplay is much smoother, especially with all the optimization mods like Sodium and Lithium. My health seems to regenerate properly, and the day-night cycle feels more balanced. The vast modding community also adds so much extra content that Bedrock simply doesn’t have — like custom world generation mods, performance tweaks, and extensive gameplay enhancements. It’s those little things that make Java feel more polished to me.
Next, I decided to explore Bedrock’s servers, beginning with one of the most popular: The Hive. This server offers a wide variety of mini-games, so I chose to dive into BedWars solos. The first thing that happened? I was instantly killed by a hacker. It was frustrating, to say the least. In Java, I’d typically encounter similar issues, but the variety of anti-cheat plugins and community-driven efforts to deal with hackers makes it feel less frequent. Plus, with Java, I can always jump into a modded server to play unique game modes that aren't available on Bedrock.
That’s just my experience, of course. Everyone’s gameplay can be different, and I wanted to share my thoughts on it.
UPDATE: I just want to remind everyone to keep the conversation respectful. This post is meant to be a place where we can all share our opinions and experiences without any hostility. Let's keep it fun and interesting for everyone.

Ye it absulutly sucks. I played it long time ago ...
Nah. It's actually superbly good! It stops players from falling off the world. Imagine if an ordinary player followed the number 1 (MUST DO!) rule of Minecraft, digging straight down, and just fell through the world, no beuno I say. That's why I always mine a good stash of bedrock for placing down at y=-100, so I don't meet such a fate.
java and bedrock are equal. bedrock is better for mods java is better for commands. let me explain bedrock allows you to put in any mod no matter the version
In my opinion, neither version is inherently better than the other, as both have their own unique strengths when it comes to mods. Java’s modding community offers a more extensive and diverse range of mods, especially when it comes to performance optimizations and custom content like complex world-altering mods. On the other hand, Bedrock has its own appeal with more accessible modding, allowing players to easily add content, especially for those on consoles or mobile devices. Ultimately, both versions have a strong modding scene, and what makes one 'better' often depends on personal preference and what kind of experience you're looking for.
Many people hate minecraft bedrock...
(Well, bedrock editon are so convenient to play with friends)

I just call it bugrock now
neither edition sucks, both are good in there own whey.
i dont think either one inherently sucks its just your outlook on them can be based on your starting or returning experience, like both of them have annoying bugs and hackers but a lot of people like either one, like i personally like both editions
i feel like bedrock has more sweats than java
you should not make a bold statement like that. It is very controversial.
Exactly.
The marketplace is rife with stolen work, it's wild that Microsoft is fully endorsing stolen work for profit,
Yeah, it's just a bunch of brainrot
yeah
Sketchy marketplace 💀
I disagree because the bedrock playerbase is more tame than Java's
Alright, I disagree with your point for reasons stated by many others in the comments, so I won’t go into that. What I will do, however, is defend the Hive: speaking as someone who plays that server for at least an hour every night, it’s pretty good. Sure, it’s no Hypixel, but it really isn’t that bad, and I’m not lying when I say that I’ve literally never encountered a hacker on there. (Your experience is like, the second or third time I’ve heard about it happening lol)
Once you do (If you play skywars) will probably not like it as much.
here's my comparison...
MODDING
Java wins. (Thousands for free!)
PLAYER COUNT
Bedrock wins. (A lot of java servers kind of lack players)
MICROTRANSACTIONS (lack thereof)
Java wins. (aside from the ones in servers)
PLAYER TYPE
Java has older, veteran players.
Bedrock has newer, younger players.
Java is better but bedrock works if you have nothing else, I guess.

i feel like the biggest reason java edition has more mods is just because it's older, meaning there are more tools for people to make more mods with, driving up demands for more tools, and so on. kinda like how there are a quadrillion mods for super mario brothers, but not as many for super mario all stars. i can't help but wonder how far along bedrock mods would be in terms of quality had people kept making them.
microtransactions... exist on java edition. it even has what is effectively paid dlc (albeit, without the dl part). it isn't as bad as the marketplace, obvi, but it does still exist.
and, when it comes to player type, i would simply like to remind everyone that bedrock edition's alpha predates java edition's release. veteran bedrock players exist.
i'm not mad btw. i'm just not sure how to phrase this that it doesn't read like i am.

Bedrock is pretty much just a cow that microsoft can milk for money by selling all of that paid-for stuff
Here's some of my experience on (cracked) Bedock:

rip
I didn't read all of that but an attempt was made.
What
well both versions have cheaters, and skeletons suck in both versions ngl. It's a bit extreme to say it should shut down when it has good features such as crossplay, easy lans, two pages on books, more dyable stuff, more snapshots, HD and transparent skins, map making tools, education edition, longer reach, faster attacking, exclusive textures, and most importantly....
SPEED BRIDGING
SPEED BRIDGING
oh yeah, and the ability to /locate any structures you havent visited yet
But I play in Bedrock so I disagree
Bedrock is a high-octane version of Java as everything is faster and fiercer from mechanics to mobs to the cycles of day and weather.
If you are a slow player, play Java. Bedrock is also unable to pause you when you hit main menu.
This is what happens when you consolify a game.

No, bedrock doesn't suck. Hackers? Java has them too. Servers are worse but not close to being bad. Marketplace? Just download stuff online. Little complaints like off hand, doors not stopping drowning etc are downright stupid though they should be features. I saw someone complaining about loading times and I haven't had an issue with them on even a 2013 laptop. People worrying about Microsoft's effects on bedrock are silly, we've had player reporting for years and I don't know anyone that's been banned from Minecraft due to reporting and mod's/addons are not disappearing anytime soon. Though I agree with stuff like worse modding capabilities, lack of a good F3, not being able to change textures in world, worse resource packs, worse commands etc. Still, way too many people hate on bedrock, java can have similar simple multiplayer and can be played on PS4 and mobile through emulation (Mac and Linux too natively) to mimic Bedrock being on so many devices, but those aren't easy as it is with bedrock, I also prefer bedrock PvP though Java 1.9+ combat is fun. Both are great and give the Minecraft experience, saying one or the other suck is incredibly stupid. I only play bedrock because it's easier to crack lol. Also, I've found that bedrock actually runs worse as there aren't any performance mods and I also agree with wither, ender dragon, enderman, being disconnected when you close the window etc complaints. Yeah, overall Java is better but Bedrock is definitely not bad.
you forgot one thing. Java servers have BETTER Anticheats especially big servers like hypixel (Fun fact hypixel has a anticheat worth 1.5 Million Dollars xD)
true that but I rarely see hackers on either platforms. More often it would be on bedrock tho.
Eh, I can agree in some ways.
what do you disagree with?
tl;dr both good but Java is better
Minecraft itself said bedrock is better
its not, don't believe anything you hear
I think it too, playing both versions
bedrock is simpler thus being more popular.

a while back it during a live steam the it was shown the devs play Java edition (I think it was modded I can’t remember) of course Microsoft would tell you bedrock is better bedrock is way easier to control and way more monetized
offhand doesn't work, doors don't stop you from drowning. no f1, f2, f3, etc.. menu, takes forever to Regen, mobs have so much range, wither in bedrock is practically invincible....I could go on
Y'know, in Java you have a heap of cool mods (like JEI, the OG Titans mod, Illagers Wear armor/Guard/any other Illager-Villager improvement, Farlanders, etc, etc, etc).
In Bedrock, you have two notable cool mods instead of thousands (BendyTheDemon's Siren Head mod, and to an extent, that... why did the titans need fifty thousand variants, like a "Black Demon Reganator (Witherzilla)" or whatever?), plus I have no clue how to even download those.
