You know that people like HD texture packs.
You know you have to stick with the defaults, whatever the artist gives you, or use a low-D skin.

how bout we get some HD SKIN SUBMISSIONS!!!???
either give the ability to preview HD skins or allow posting of HD skins. (and screenshots)

They need to make a higher pixel amount. Like 2x more pixels, but not HD.

i belive HD skins are not currently being made becuase it takes A LONG TIME to make them like a few hours at best the amount of detail it offers though is amazing

So I would like for Mojang to make these Changes to minecraft one would be that you could make a 32X32 skin its enough and to have torches emit light when U hold them also a version of Battlegear mod (dual wield) and to have the Mojang team hire the makers of the Smart Movement mod to make movement more realistic and to have joints for the arms and legs

there are actually mods available that will allow you to see/view other people's HD skins in multiplayer, but only select servers offer it.

You can use HD skins all you need to do is use a website that can upload skins for you, it then bypasses the oixel count limit

At this time, HD skins will not be supported by PMC since they have little use beyond single player Minecraft. If / when they have multiplayer support in MC, then it makes sense for to support them on PMC.

Like he said, the default skin only. Since this only works with the HD textures, this will stay as a tex pack only item and will not be supported as an official submission type within skins. Confirmed by Cyprezz just now.

HD skins only work as a replacement for the default skin (minecraft.jar/mob/char.png) and only you can see it, in place of the steeve skin on players who don't have a custom one. You can't upload an HD skin to minecraft.net.
So the use for HD skins is pretty limited for now. Hopefully the Mojang folks will add support for custom HD skins when they add support for HD packs altogether.

I just drag and replace it in my texture pack, with HD patcher on. It replaces the Char fine.

if you have HD texture packs, you have HD skins.
If a server supports HD texture packs, I believe it will work.
The problem is, you can't showcase/submit/preview HD skins on planet minecraft, and that's what I think would be awesome to do

Is there a mod which makes it possible to show HD skins ingame?
And when you're using such a HD skin, will everybody see it? Or does everyone need to have this mod then?
(I'm talking about Multiplayer, in Singleplayer it might work.)
Nice idea, but I'm afraid, that this will only work in Singleplayer.
