Smile or beard?

Okay, So I've always wondered How other people see Steve's weird mouth-area thing. I originally saw it as a smile (Though now I can see both) but some other people have always seen it as a beard. So my question is what did you see first? A smile or a beard?

I think it's just me, but I've always seen Steve as a Wookie with no fur. :P
Also, I've seen that as a smile (even back when I was a kid), not a beard.

Well, you can see both because Steve doesn't shave every day.

In all the years that I've player Minecraft, I have NEVER thought or consider or even HEARD of it as a beard.
