Have any of you ever have had something stolen? For example, someone posted a skin that you made, but they claim that they made it?

Have you ever heard of StopModReposts? It's an organization to help stop stolen content relating to Minecraft, mainly mods. They have a huge list of illegal sites, and even made a browser extension to block such sites.

Some of my mods are on those sites. I get excited when the use official download links.
2
Well, they make money from YOUR work, that's not nice. It would be nice if there was way to take it down
1
Yeah, I know. I've seen such sites (like 9minecraft). They're full of ads and stolen content.
2
the site you mentioned is pretty special. They put correct author's name (atleast something I guess) but the mod description is pretty random, and they like to use images from other popular mods and put it under your mod images and claim it's from the mod. People recognize it's from different mod, but they go to the author and start insulting him that HE is stealing other mod's content etc. That site should have been down years ago, but I'm pretty sure as soon as it would be taken down, another one would appear. And their site location is somewhere in third world country, so good luck with lawsuits

You don't want your mods on those sites. They're illegally stealing your work and passing it off as their own, sometimes sneaking malware/adware in with it. it doesn't matter if they're using the official link or not, if you didn't tell them to put it there and they're not crediting you, it's reposting. It's illegal and it's one of the worst things that can happen to a mod developer. And if you use Adfly, Patreon, etc, chances are you won't be getting paid anytime soon, if at all.

Only twice on my projects (Although one of them has been taken down). Not sure if any of my skin or blog has been stolen.
1
Luckily not yet to my knowledge, but probably has happened though. We're talking about the internet, so what do you expect...
3
I can't say yes or no, because I refuse to post my creations on sites unless there are protections against copying or an option to add a watermark. I know there are people out there who will try to pass things off as their own, so I refuse to give them any options.

I had the same thoughts before, so I decided to only make certain skins for the site that I wouldn't care much for if they got stolen. And skins that only i have access to
1
Regularly i see my skins or some parts on other site Without my permission and with other name as mine...I only post in PMC!!
1
I have had people put my ravenfield mods on pirated mod sites (for the pirated version of the game) but that seems unrelated... but I haven't seen any of my data packs reposted or at least not to my knowledge
2
My datapack, mcEXP, has been placed on many repost sites. I got one of them to credit me; emailing did the trick.

i have so many skins on my computer, and only a few here, this is one of the reasons
1
i've seen some redstone that is suspiciously similar to mine, but I just comment with a link to my video and hope people watch it..
1
no, not that i've seen. however, if any of my skins or poetry are posted on another website, i'd like someone to let me know. i can't be everywhere at once!
1
I don't think that I've had it happen to me yet but I hope it won't ever happen, knowing the internet it'll happen eventually..
2
