Once upon a time, there were many people like you in the Minecraft world. They learned to craft and build. They built towns and cities and kingdoms and explored all there is to know. Or at least in that dimension. One kingdom’s ruler decided to try making a portal. He used stone, diamonds, gold, and finally, obsidian. He abandoned the project a few years later, but his son tried lighting it on fire and the very first Nether Portal went ablaze. They pushed a few pigs and cows inside, and what they evolved into were today’s Piglins and Hoglins. They went inside and after gathering blocks from the area, they built shelter in the form of fortresses and bastions all across the Nether. They battled Wither skeletons, and they dropped their skulls. They came across a Soul Sand valley and dug up the sand to plant the only crop they could find: Nether Wart. But someone dug up the plants and took the sand to the Overworld. He experimented with blocks until he spawned the Wither. Unarmed and weak, he ran away to the kingdom and accidentally led the Wither straight toward it. The inhabitants of the overworld took what they had and dug down deep away from the wither. They built a stronghold with most of their blocks. The twelve blocks that the twelve past kings have crafted were the only blocks left. They built a portal on the ground and jumped in, except for the princess and her friend. When everyone jumped into the portal to escape the Wither, they heard a deafening roar near the center of the huge island in the sky. It was the Dragon, the queen of the End. All of the people tried to get to the outer islands and less than half of them made it. They spotted huge stalks of the chorus fruits growing out of the ground. They used the material, along with bricks made of end stone, to build cities across the islands. They used all of their leather and some chorus flowers to make a set of wings with a hard-to-pronounce name: The Elytra.
They left it behind on a floating ship guarded by strange box-shaped creatures, the Shulkers. They headed to the main End island, but their bridges were all gone. They were trapped. Eventually, they evolved into Endermen, who all told their children the story of the Player. But eventually, the fact that THEY were once the players got lost in the story, and that is why they attack players. Now going back a few millennia, the princess and her friend had children and more generations kept being made, but most of them got killed by the Wither. Before one of the last ones died, he forced the Wither into the Nether, where it got into an epic battle with some Ghasts, and eventually died, but left its spirits in the soul sand valley, along with many dead wither skeletons. Alex and Steve were the only ones left. They were the chosen ones to free the End and beat the Wither.
