From film to photography to Minecraft skins, an artists choice of lighting is one of the first things a viewer picks up on before the mind moves on to interpreting the finer details. In addition to the first impression, selective lighting can draw a viewers attention to one or more aspects the artist intends to highlight. For this skin contest theme, your challenge is to think about how you can use lightning as a artistic tool from establishing a first impression to guiding our eye through the use of selective highlighting & shading.

Medieval Times
- Let's go back to a time when life was simple but staying alive was difficult. MEDIEVAL TIIIMES!! It's a period of time when politics, classes and roles were well defined to keep the order in attempt to thrive as an empire or die by the sword or to famine, disease or dragons! Dragons? Yes, for this medieval contest skin theme, we would allow fantasy.

Aztecs & Egyptians
- Two of the most fascinating civilizations of this world have inspired and perplexed modern minds in countless ways. Let their cultures inspire your mind to create a relevant Minecraft skin!

Villagers
- In the spirit of the latest 1.14 Minecraft update, let's make skins to populate classic villager professions. It would be limited to a list of specific professions: blacksmith, armorer, baker, butcher, farmer, merchant, fisherman, innkeeper, librarian, carpenter, tailer, alchemist, herbalist, calligrapher, bar tender & scribe. Pending finalization but this is a decent list.

Fright Night
- What goes bump in the night?! Let's make skins that make your skin craaawl! Nightmares, goose bumps, tales from the crypt, animatronic teddy bears, demons, ghouls, goblins... MOOONSTERS from your imagination. Let's bring them all into Minecraft! MuhahahahHAHAHA HAHA *cough* *hak* *ahem* hAHHAHaha ha.

DawnBringer's 32 Color Palette (DB32)
- Palette restriction with the intention to inspire creativity. You'll be restricted to colors in the famous DB32 color palette. What you do with the palette will be up to you. If you've never used a color palette before, this is a great one to start with! Original creator & more information here.


Dance Off
- Musical tastes are as diverse as the sources of inspiration during it's creation. Make a skin that relates to music whether it's by genre, lifestyle, celebrity or culture. Let the music flow through your Minecraft Skin or into your ears at least. Either way, dance party and/or head banging is encouraged. Show us what you got!

City Life
- The city's alive with the hustle and bustle of hundreds of thousands of people! From the frequenters of a trendy coffee-shop on the corner, to the diligent crew of construction workers keeping the metropolis in shape, and everything between, create someone (or something!) that calls the city its home!

Disguises
- If it weren't for those meddling kids, I would have gotten away with it! It's time to pull off those masks and show who was really behind the deed. Make a skin that makes use of the hat layer to disguise what's underneath.
