Chellizard, yours was good, but I fell for the beautiful imagery and fantastic storytelling in Knight's (albeit long) story.

Knight ol' buddy, there is such a thing as "too long".

I'm really, really annoyed by being "too long". I think 90% of the blogs on PMC are too short.

I agree. Most stories I see here are incredibly short. It's about pacing and not forcing unnecessary details in for no reason, not length, imo.
