Hello Planet of Minecrafters.
With the release of Minecraft Mob Skins on PMC, we have the opportunity to host skinning contests & events for a wide variety of models not just the player model anymore. This thread will be a place to share & discuss ideas for potential mob skin contests. We're open to all suggestions.
PMCSkin3D supports over 60 mob models! While ideally we'll have themes that can accept all models, we COULD have ideas that limit the models depending on what's appropriate for the contest/theme. The models vary in topic and complexity from a simple Fishing Bobber to the Ender Dragon. Since contests typically compare quality & creativity of participants, some mob contest ideas might benefit from limiting the accepted models.
- Please post ONE idea per reply.
Feel free to post multiple but for the sake of discussion and emeralds going towards a specific idea, one idea per post will clarify what were talking about. - Your ideas will be credited to you in the poll options as well as if it becomes an actual contest/event.
- Don't be afraid to pitch your idea. We don't really know what will make a good mob skin contest / event and want a wide variety of options.
EXAMPLE #1:
Title: Farm Animals
Description:
Old MacSteve had a villager farm and on his farm he had a pig. With pixels placed here and pixels placed there. It can be fun to diverge from the usual song, dance and farm animals. Let's create custom livestock and breath new life into our farms in Minecraft.

TITLE
This is a the best title you can currently come up with for summarizing your theme into something that is easy to understand. A good title should represent the theme in as few words as possible while also being entertaining / attracting attention.
DESCRIPTION
The description should elaborate on the contest title by clarifying what the contest/event is about. Good descriptions are fun to read, keep your readers attention and most importantly explains the theme in a way that is easy to understand.
TYPE OPTIONS
Contest = Competition that accepts one entry, requires a judging team / phase, produces a final leader board and includes pixel art trophies & prize(s).
Event = Non-competitive event that accepts multiple entries, isn't judged, produces a collection of themed skins and includes a pixel art award for participating.
MODEL OPTIONS
All = This means all models are accepted in the contest. Participants are free to choose any model, except player models (Steve/Alex), to skin for the contest theme. Part of the challenge is choosing a model that will allow you to show off your artistic ability while representing the contest theme.
Limited : Model #1, Model #2, ...
This means the contest is limited to the listed model(s). Participants must choose from the acceptable models and the contest/event itself would prevent other models types from being entered. The contest theme for one reason or another is better represented by a particular set of models.
You don't need to use the template but it can be helpful to have a few simple prompts.

Title: Sci-fi High Fantasy Monsters
Description:
In the golden age of CRPGs the three most popular CRPG games (80s/early 90s) where the Might and Magic series, Ultima series and Wizardry series. These three games had some things in common which many modern CRPGs lack- science fiction in a high fantasy setting (though Ultima lacks the most out of the three). Those three games invented the CPRG genre effectively.
How will you mash these two genres together creating a unique monster! Perhaps you would create a creature powered by technology masked as magic on a world. Or perhaps the hostile monster is aided by both magic and technology? The choice is yours! Do whatever as long as it is retained within the two genres!
(For example; the protagonist in the first 5 Might and Magic games was a malfunctioning guardian who was maimed on driving the worlds into the sun. The later Might and Magic games introduced blasters and other guns at the end game and a spaceship in mm7 ;p!)

Create a mob skin that depicts a Monster or creature of ancient legends and lore. Please use only creatures that real human cultures believed in at some point in history. There are tons to choose from
Type: Contest, but please don't ask me to judge. (I'm not qualified, and I really want to enter.) Submit up to three entries, since that's such an important number in mythology.
Models: All Mob models, but no non-mob entity models (no beds, capes, tridents, etc.)

It looked old, but still he used it once he turned it on he was sucked into it there was a B&W guy saying that the 1980s realm had been burned down and Steve had to fix it. help him by bringing these old-style creatures back to life!

Title: Beasts of the Colosseum
Description: In the heyday of ancient Rome, amphitheaters across the empire were alive with the sound of gladiators, who would spend day after day facing off against not only other gladiators, but a host of ferocious beasts from all over the ancient world. These beasts were quite a spectacle for an ancient Roman back in the day!
There was a large assortment of beasts in the arena, including elephants, lions, tigers, bears, deer, wild goats, leopards, boars, crocodiles, hippopotamuses, rabbits, wild boar, giraffes, and many others. For the sake of not limiting the potential so much, you could also include other animals of antiquity. Some other ideas would be a any ancient dog breeds like the Greek Molossus or Roman Cane Corso dog, any cat breeds originating in ancient Egypt, the wild Aurochs, camels, or anything else that just feels right for the time period. I'm sure people will find all sorts of creative ways to really include the theme of ancient history!
Some of these are of course already in the game as regular mobs, so the idea is to add some that aren't in the game onto existing mob models where it's possible to do so as many other talented skinners have done already. Please try to stick to a realistic/vanilla color palette but you don't have to.
Anyone who can figure out how to make the Ravager into an elephant would certainly have our attention...
