New :)
Hey everyone! I'm new here! (sort of) I've used this website many different times for mods and other addons but never had an account. So, I decided its time to change that lol. I've had Minecraft since I was a child and I have taken numerous breaks but I am officially playing again and I am not ashamed. I'm also interested in making my own mods and things; I just need to do research on how to. Any tips?

Welcome to Planet Minecraft! I hope you have a great time here. I happen to have a few mods of my own. If you want some tips or anything like that, feel free to ask. :)

Thank you! I in fact, do have many questions haha. How does one get started? What do I need to do to create a mod? Or maybe I can start with something simpler like a texture pack? (Unless it isn't easier. It just seems easier to me to recolor a few things than to entirely create something new.) Maybe I can make a mobs texture pack because I've been wanting to change the texture of the mobs in Minecraft. I tried finding an already existing one but none of them are updated :(

First of all, you're going to want to learn the basics of Java, the programming language that Minecraft: Java Edition is coded in. This is usually what turns most people off right away. Java isn't a very hard language to learn though, compared to others like C or Python. There is a program that allows you to make "mods" without knowing how to code called MCreator. However, I wouldn't recommend using it. You don't have very much customizability with it, so most people who use MCreator tend to make very similar mods that aren't really distinguishable from each other, usually in the form of adding a few new ores, OP tools/armor, and a new dimension or two. If you know how to code your own mods though, that opens up so many more possibilities. Anyway, learning Java would be your first step to making a really good mod.

I learned the basics of Java in Highschool :) So how would I apply this to Minecraft?
