download a map, check if its only folder with some files, go to appdata > roaming > .minecraft > saves and put the folder in there

Welcome to the site.
Not done much with maps (particularly recently), but one thing you need to make clear is what version (1.12.2 vs 1.9 vs 1.13.2) and platform (java / bedrock / MCPE) you are playing.

or you might try asking in the "Help" subfora for your platform…
