OFFICIAL COMMUNITY EVENT
SUMMER VACATION!! Woo! What's it mean to you? What do you first think of when you think Summer Vacation? Ice Cream? Swimming? Lemonade? Enter up to five summer-themed creations! We welcome skins, projects and blogs (poems, short stories, photography) or any combination of them.

The Summer Vacation Community Event is currently at 393 entries. We have a little under a week left. Can we make it past 400? 😃

Pixel paint some lemonade, make some beachwear skins, build a nice vacation resort or write about what your ideal summer vacation would be like. There are so many different things you could do that fits the theme! And remember, you can enter up to 5 different things in this event!

There are some community-made happenings as well that seamlessly flow along with the summery theme. Make sure you don't miss them! You can enter one submission in both, check them out below:

DinowCookie's latest challenge involves getting outside and enjoying the fresh, summer air! In her Magic of Summer Challenge, your objective is to go outside and take at least 3 photos which have a summery feel to them! OTHER HIGHLIGHTS
HOT TAMALE!
Europe was hit with a heat wave this passed week! Countries such as France, Sweden, Norway hit all time high temperatures, breaking records from over 30 years ago. The Netherlands set a national record high temperature of 107.1 degrees F (42 degrees C)on Thursday beating its' previous record set in 1944 which was 101.8 degrees F (39 degrees C)! Whew! What did you guys do to stay cool?!

While the heat wave is on its' way out of Europe, it's on it's way to the Arctic region, towards Greenland. Greenland will see an enhanced melting
and a decreased surface mass balance (Greenland ice sheet). Runoff from the Greenland ice sheet increases sea levels, since it adds new water to the oceans. If the entire ice sheet were to melt, it would raise global average sea levels by 23 feet (7 meters)!

Our thoughts will be with our furry and non-furry friends as the heatwave moves towards them!
