Making a mc 1.6.2 mod

hey, how might one make a mod for 1.6.2? I learned the basic crap, and I wanted to make one, but I can't find mc jar, or resources... so Im quite stuck... plz help

.jar files are kept in the "versions" folder in ".minecraft". If you want to test the mod, try copying and pasting the version you are hoping to edit, for example: 1.6.2, then change the name of the folder, .jar, and .json to something like "1.6.2_Mod". Edit the version name in the .json file to the name of the version, then do all the editing through that specific .jar.
