Memory Allocation Help?

Whenever I try to Allocate at least 1GB it doesn't work...
It shows up with the default amount still? Can someone help me with this?

You need 64-bit java, and it will only take whole GB increases. Also it isn't going to improve gameplay unless you are using the water shader mod.
How are you allocating it? By starting the exe launcher using a bat file?
