Every single time I actually get around to checking the community's recent activity out, I feel shocked to see that the site feels more and more like a cesspool of wallposts than it does a content-based site. It genuinely stuns me, that the site feels this wall post-centered sometimes. I fully understand why the wall posts are appealing, but at the same time, I long for the days where wall posts weren't there and content felt at the centre of everything. The amount of "xd random" material on here gets staggering sometimes, and while I understand that my dismay with such is also me growing older, it does sometime feel like it really waters down the "creative community" aspect of the site. I am not going to claim wall posts don't bring some qualities with them, they definitely do; but sometimes it just feels like it really has watered down certain aspects of what it felt like set the community apart from other social media.
I definitely agree with you on the idea of the website becoming less and less content based, but I also think the people making these random xd post are often younger. Although it can be frustrating that many of these post clog up my feed and prevent me from seeing content, I actually quite enjoy to see these post, even if they are meaningless to me. To see these post makes me appreciate the "innocence" I used to have. Even though I am 16, I feel I have matured a lot since I joined this site (5 years?). With that maturity came the self consciousness and low self esteem. I envy the people who have the ability to just post constantly without becoming self conscious or feel it is meaningless, and I hope that they continue to be the way they are because I wouldn't wish anyone in the world to become self conscious to my level. I apologise for the messy thoughts and if I went off track, I am not good with my words.
you can change your pmc feed to exclusively display skins etc. which is what I do. Unfortunately, this means I sometimes miss out on wall posts that I actually want to see, but it's a good temporary solution.
I agree so much! I'm subbed to some people for their content but they cap their wall posts with spam every single day. I don't want to unsub the person or block wall posts from everyone. I wish I could block wall posts from certain users while still seeing their skins etc! This needs to become a thing.
As I've begun maturing, I've come to realize that I actually agree with this. In order to grow out of the habit, I save the XD random or more emotional posts to subscribers. I've noticed a trend.
On PMC, there seem to be generations. Each generation has its wallposters, but slowly those wallposters grow up and leave room for the next generation to move in.
ETA: Forgot to add, I include my business stuff as public.
To be honest, I am a little saddened to see how the few remaining creative wallposts are drowned in a torrent of memes and rants. I personally mainly use wallposts to share my artworks, since people rarely actually go to the skins pages where these are 'embedded'.
So they found the title screen Seed and now Pack.png. It's nice to see the heart of the community still beat even if the rest of it is a skeleton of its former self.
Normalise not stressing out about being a perfectionist with your art when it's causing you stress trying to get lineart and cell shading absolutely impeccable and just going back to doing what you love... sketchin cow ladies.
