Alright, so here's another question.

What is with people and their obsession with heterochromia? I find that fairly often, whether it be a roleplay character or just a Minecraft skin, people tend to overuse this trait. It's a cool thing, and a very unique visual trait, and rather interesting when you meet someone irl with this mutation, but it's overuse in internet culture seems to ruin the uniqueness of it.

So if you do often design your skins with two different color eyes, why? Is there a story reasoning, a conflict of decisions with color, or do you think it makes your skin special? I just see it was to often and it's becoming as overused in Minecraft skins as headphones and creeper jackets.

Sorry if I offended anyone, I just felt like ranting over this, since it was irritating me to see the unique feature so overused.

It is a rather intriguing thing, heterochromia, but if those people are going for unique and fun, it ends up not being that when a thousand other skins are the same. And I meant mutation in the scientific sense, as heterochromia is caused by a genetic mutation.

I meant mutation as in genetic mutation, which is what causes heterochromia. I think it's cool to see, and can be used to set a character apart, but when it's used on every other skin I see, it makes it seem a bit overdone.

I don't see that much more, but I look at old skins and see lots of popular ones that fit this subject right here, and Ive noticed those same skins have less of a plastic pattern and more of a consistent color change (which I mean they change almost every brightness or color of the pixels to their skins)
I think these designs were much more popular because before people on minecraft had more of a culture related to the game and now of days people in minecraft try and relate their skins and texture packs or mods, etc, to stuff from their life, or other games, Ive noticed people seem to make less stuff that is based off of minecaft for their skins, texture packs, and etc.

But the eye thing is mostly because many people like the look, it seems to give some a nice feel.
Ive noticed all of this stuff for a while, like half of the people I have seen on hypixel have ears or tails on their human skins. which I thought got pretty old after a while, and it seemed to other people like it never got old.

We may aswell say that some things just exist, and we cannot do much about it.

Alright, so here's my question for all you skin-artists here on PMC.

Where do you get your inspiration for hairstyles when doing humanoid skins?
Do you repeat the same style with a different color, or do you come up with something new each time?
How to you design your hairstyles when making skins?

And extra note, this isn't shading I'm talking about, but the actual style of the hair.

As for inspiration, I have no idea where I got it from. The hair styles I use are probably used by hundreds of thousands of people I don't even know. I'll never know.

And of course you're going to have to change up the hair style every now and then. If you look at my skins, it might not be that obvious. I use the same general style, but add a few different elements to it such as longer shadows. Some go to the top, some don't. Some may be shorter, some may be longer. It honestly just depends on the type of skin you want to go for.
