THE YEAR IS 27 OF THE FOURTH AGE.... Two years ago, a band of Reunited Kingdom Missionaries set out on a quest into the East to subdue and ally with the men of the East. They were largely successful, with the men of Palisor throwing off their shackles of fear of the Dark Lord Sauron, and becoming good men once again. They journeyed to the Uttermost East, to see what they may discover in the unknown land, but they were attacked! The men of the long hidden Taiyafen Empire killed much of the group out of fear, thinking them to be dark men of Melkor from which they fled long ago. The few missionary survivors fled back to their lands, claiming terrible tales of evil yellow men. The renewed legions of the West go to war against the unveiled men of the Far East in a terrible war. Which side will win depends on you.....


The area around Hildorien -the birthplace of men in the Uttermost East- is a place touched by very few elvish hands but lots by Melkor. For much of the First Age it was a blighted land, raided by evil men from further west, with many of its people enslaved by Morgoth, however after the breaking of Utumno, Melkor called his forces of evil men to fight in Angband, leaving all those east of the Orocarni to their own matters so he could strike the elves and the lords of the west easier. The men in the far east were at first were a warring group of tribes, fighting for dominance in the area until around the time the Rings of Power were forged two kingdoms remained in the area. These kingdoms had been warring non-stop for nearly 1000 years and too many men died for them to keep fighting each other so that in S.A 1507 they united to form The Taiyafen Empire. The new Taiyafen empire was first established in the Second Age, when the previously warring Fengji and Taiyo Empires finally allied to prevent more bloodshed among themselves, and to protect themselves from raiding Variags, Wainriders, and sometimes the Golden warriors of Rhûdel.


For the next thousand years the empire prospered from trading with the red dwarves and developed their own writing system adapted from Dwarvish runes to fit brush strokes. Over 200 characters were developed to fit the languages in the empire. This was a great time and riches flooded the land however in S.A 3128 various tribes from Rhun attacked from the west devastated the empire. They were attacked a few years after the defeat of Sauron by the hand of the reunited kingdom, by the men of the Reunited Kingdom, who thought them to be akin to the evil corrupted men of the Near East, and Near Harad. The armies of Taiyafen repelled the westerners and bolstered their western border.

Hello Traveler! We are the Gates of the East team, who are working on a server and submod plug for the amazing LOTR mod by Mevans. As of now, (9/21/18) we are still in the processes of working on our submod, very nearly approaching completion. The idea behind this project was the intent to add Asiatic factions in the far east regions beyond the Red Mountains of Middle Earth. It is a very gray area in Tolkien's Legendarium, and thought it quite possible that similar factions to those in our real world could've developed and existed there. We took creative enterprise much like Mevans did in the adding of the Taurethrim and naming of the southern way points for instance, basing them off existing cultures. For example, the real world counterpart of Hinomichi is Japan, with both being island chains and having a religion centered around the sun and all. Though some of the names are almost 100% asian, and might be hard to say, I hope that we can bring you a wonderful server experience when we release!
