Ahh, the conduit is a nice one. Every once in a while I snap back to attention after staring at mine for a while and contemplating my Minecraft existence. I think the slime block is my fave, though some people would recognize it by it's scientific name, "Iskallium"...

Anyways, I highly recommend using a few of the slightly transparent green gelatinous cubes to descend from great heights, particularly if you don't have many spare elytra. Harvesting the slime can be a pain (I use cheats) but outfitting your server with bounce pads will serve you well. If you don't miss, that is...

I have aims to create a minigame where the objective is to bounce safely from the build limit to bedrock, but I haven't quite figured out how I'll manage it yet. At the time being, I know where it's going but not exactly what it will look like. Waterfalls and slime go together like, well, waterfalls and slime. The honey block is certainly going to be included as well, still figuring out how it works. Glowstone is another favorite, (not the vanilla texture though. yuck) and of course there's always stone, which is certainly the block I use the most. I started using stone because I wanted my buildings to "blend in" with the stone around them and I despise cobblestone pretty much entirely because it doesn't occur naturally.

As far as mods go, Optifine can transform glass from being a real eyesore to virtually invisible (using "connected textures"), so I think that is the most useful adjustment to make. Optifine hasn't yet been released for 1.15 but the "zoom" feature is equally elegant, and sorely overdue in the vanilla game. I use it for about 90% of my screenshots and while it obviously isn't a block, It essentially is like walking around your map with a small DSLR (camera) that is just super handy, fun, and simple to use. The Replay mod is also super cool but I haven't been able to use it much yet.

Here's to dirt slabs, colored slimes, and smithing table functionality in 2020! I can't wait to....smith...some....tools? I honestly have no idea why there are any GUI blocks other than the crafting table sometimes...

Hey! I am pretty new to schematics but I highly recommend making the switch to PC as fast as you can, the game really explodes with possibilities when you add resources packs, mods, and shaders to the mix. The schematica mod and Optifine is probably where you would want to start when you get there, but for the time being, try graph paper if you haven't already. It helps with my floorplans, as well as gives me a sort of ratio to work from.

I find that most buildings change a lot once I actually see the walls and supports in the game, but if I am away from the computer you can just draw any shape on the graph, and then fill in the the blocks that the lines passes through, or the entire area, etc. If there are existing buildings you want to work from, just print out a picture and tape the two up to a window and trace, or if you're really dangerous, go ahead and do it on your computer monitor real fast.

I highly recommend scouring the internet for talented builders on reddit and here and stealing a little piece of lots of peoples worlds. I've just found out about this and it gave me an idea for a treehouse concept I've been struggling with, you never know where you will find things that make your minecraft life easier. Getting feedback on your builds is nice, but to a certain degree you have to be prepared for people who either won't like what you've built or just don't understand why you do it. Don't mind them. :)

I use almost nothing but stone and glass. I'm about to build a pirate ship out of wood and it will be the first time I really use it in years. There's plenty of ways to use wood, I just don't.

If there's one thing I've learned, it's that everyone thinks they listen to good music. I can hardly stand some of it, and some people really don't enjoy what I do like. Here's my playlist: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dff9lH29iLM&list=PL9h5bu81VTJHaqpicg1Y2kqIVIIgGQqxm

I think you'll find some of it to your liking, I would recommend Skinshape, Bonobo, and the Helio Sequence to just about anyone.

I bought the Java edition May 11th, 2012 (You can check on Mojang's website). I was a freshman in college, about to finish my first year.

Best twenty bucks I ever spent, I've been playing the same survival map pretty much since then.

When you click into your "Shaders" Folder in-game, there is a list of settings to the right, one of which is "old lighting". I would just make sure that's on Default or Off.

Hey, I'd be happy to work with you a bit. I have a map that I'd like to see in a new light. Right now I am pleased as punch with the in game rendering, as I can take screenshots that capture the individual builds, but i don't have a general, large scale view of the entire island. I'm also interested in seeing what somebody else's take on my buildings would be, and I would be happy to show you around the current map to see what parts of it are most interesting to you. I'll be uploading another update with a few new buildings shortly, they need not be included.

I'd like to have consistent angles and compare the map to it's future self, as I expand into new areas. I think it would be rather difficult to do it with weather involved, so a clear sunny sky is probably best. That said, if there was some way to make a timelapse video last a day, that would be cool too. I'd like to do a minecraft version of this video. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TgoAgYR4584) Rendering probably isn't necessary for that, but I need help with learning how to do simple things like getting mobs out of the shot, etc.

If any of this is beyond you, impossible, or stupid, just let me know.

The easiest way to see my map with shaders and resource pack in action would probably be my Twitch. That's here: https://www.twitch.tv/kaatmandu

I'll send my resource pack to you in a more discreet manner when I get it uploaded.

Hey, I would add Sildur's Shaders to the list Sfekke provided, they're a little different but similar to BSL in that they're highly customizable. Go with the "Lite" one if you have an integrated GPU or if you're not sure what that is. And definitely use Optifine. If you use reddit at all, I just made a community for screenshots and the like at https://www.reddit.com/r/MC_shaders/

As of now I'm the only person in it, so you won't exactly get overwhelmed by comments or feedback. Maybe eventually it will grow, but for now it's just a small corner of the internet I have complete control over :)

This one was on Breaking Bad, but I knew the group first I swear. They're a jazz band from Toronto that all went to school together. I saw them live once for free. I don't like everything they've ever done, they made albums in hours so it's a lot of wild jazz that I don't particularly jive with but this one and "Hedron" are my two favorites.

I also discovered "C" is the hotkey for the camera zoom feature. I have been playing for years without it, there isn't a ton of obvious utility for most players but it's very helpful when taking screenshots.

I like the fog, I meant the wavy visual effect that only happens underwater. I'm not sure what to call it. Sorry, I could have been more clear with my first comment.

Hey, this is a video of me walking around my island with the cel shading on. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FuqTulsrdBU

or just take a look at an imgur gallery with a few screenshots here: https://imgur.com/gallery/23CgqlY

Great work! Your shaders are the best! They truly change the game, especially when paired with clear glass!

One question though, is it possible to disable the underwater effect? Just looking to take clearer screenshots at times.

Dloaw is a French Trip-Hop producer who does a great job finding the best of the genre and publicising them. I use Youtube for music often, so I'd say that's my favorite, though I do love Mumbo and Grian and the whole Hermitcraft gang.

I learned a few simple cheats. I have to open my survival world to LAN, and turn "allow cheats" on first, then I can change the time, weather, etc. I just started going into spectator mode a bit because I don't have an Elytra and I wanted to work on some pixelart. I gave myself some sponges and a turtle helmet because I wouldn't spend the time it takes to get 5 scutes. The sponges I haven't used yet.

I also just learned how to render an image using Mineways and Blender. Pretty cool stuff, but Blender in particular has a lot of features I don't understand and is hard to use as a beginner.
