Find a texture pack that does have a custom sky and then just be sure to custom texture everything that they did so there aren't any concerns about stolen art.

Was discussing these with Drags a couple weeks ago, you're actually one of the more interesting case studies - your hot streak was unfortunately at the same time as his. The only time a contest "top 2" has ever repeated was the combo of Drags 1st, you 2nd, and you two pulled it off 3 times, lol. Shocking actually, considering Wildflowers' 2nd place streak.

bruh I've been making skins for 6 years and have seen 3 people using them, ever. if you see anyone using your skins you're extremely, hilariously lucky.

Good content gets enough diamonds to be finalist in 99% of cases, in my experience judging 4 contests and over 5 years. The skill differences at 1-5 diamonds range is so incremental and subjective that it's impossible to say that a certain skin or style is low effort compared to each other, since they're all fairly amateur and skins that do have quality technique, objectively, get more than 1-5 diamonds.

The outer layer (I refer to it personally as 1.8 layers) are drawn on top of some of the transparent areas of the 1.8 skin format (since it has to be transparent to show the normal skin model underneath the 1.8 layer). This skin has the textures of the inner and outer layers mapped and marked well, so until you're comfortable with the formatting I recommend you use it. Feel free to message me if you need more help.

Purely technically I have nothing from this year. Plenty of unfinished stuff and stuff currently being worked on, though. Looking at this now, my progression seems smoother than I thought it was.
