Go for the language you feel most comfotable with. Try Java, try C++, try Basic and chose the one you are most comfortable codding with. I started from VisualBasic to Java and C++ is not a hastle anymore

Yup. Get a PC running Windows or Linux. Macs just arent made for gaming.
For 800$ or less i'd suggest getting one custom built.
200$ - Ati Radeon 3800 hd. (GPU)
300$ - AMD athlon 64+ 3.10 Ghz (CPU)
120$ - a GIGABYTE motherboard (pick one that is compatible with your sockets and such)
80$ - 2 x 4GB RAM sticks
100$ - 500 GB hard disk.

If you have more money you can get a sound card, better power unit, and etc.
Also you will need a screen, a mouse and keyboard for a PC.

They changed the net protocol to allow 1.7.2 clients to join.
In other words they changed bukkit so 1.7.2 can join.
But they cannot use the new blocks or features because they are actually in a 1.6.4 server. So if they try to put a block or use a command their minecraft would crash

Ok to all you guys who think windows 8 improves performance. IT DOESENT!
They only did visual and some system improvements. They did not do any performance improvements. The only reason your PC is now running smoothly is because you FORMATED it when reinstalling it.

THINGS I HATE ABOUT WIN8
-METRO ( i mean really? you replaced my start menu for this?!)
-No start menu (as mentioned above)
-New explorer (no not internet explorer! but the windows you use like "my computer" are so hard to navigate)
-Those sidebar thingies.
-No normal shutdown (so you have to go to accounts to shutdown now so sad)

THINGS I LIKE ABOUT WIN8
-More customization (yes win8 has more themes and colors than win7)
-Better compatibility (did you remember the system stuff i talked about earlier?)
-Better device compatibility (Win8 works good even with slow PCs. BUT DOES NOT BOOST

ill stick with win7 for now but if they add an option to disable those stuff ill be happy to change.
PS: I want my start menu back.

For a gaming PC i would choose Windows 7 just for the fact that everything works on it (well maybe not everything). Windows 8 might look more atractive but it has no screensavers, I think it didnt have any wallpapers only colours, you cannot record because it uses a diferent shell.
All in all Win 7 is better for a gaming rig.

PS: i use Windows XP (service pack 3) LOL

where you download a proxy and register and choose your skin and cape from there.
