I hope they don't release it in a week. The new changes break mcpatcher, and it hasn't been fixed yet. This is very bad for texture pack makers.
Minecraft/Discussion Should PC minecraft be ported to C+ or C++ from Java?

Minecraft should move away from java, but it probably won't be ported to native code, because it would make it less portable. I think should be ported to javascript and webgl.

Linux!
Although windows is better for gamers.
I would suggest you dual boot windows and linux, because trust me, you should never actually use windows as a computer operating system.

Mac os is cool too, if you don't mind the pricey hardware.
It is also the only decent os that can run proprietary software like photoshop, office and itunes, but you really shouldn't be using any of those.

My favorite os is ubuntu.

Also, the earth has never been 3d mapped with a 1m precision EVER.
So people would have to do the scientific measuring and scanning and stuff by themselves...

The surface area of the earth is 510 million square kilometers.
7.6 million people bought minecraft.
That means if everyone who plays minecraft participates, each person needs to do 67 square kilometers. And if you dont do the oceans, it's 20 square kilometers.
Thats a 4500x4500 square. (Pretty big)
It's definately not impossible, but it would require huge amounts of time and people.

also, curvaature of the earth is an issue

Windows for gaming
Mac os or linux for everything else

As for hardware:
Mac laptops are the best
Mac desktops are way too overpriced and useless

I have a macbook and a custom built pc box.
I use linux on the desktop and mac os on the macbook.

If you are not a gamer get rid of windows! You will be much happier! Linux pwns!

I made a texture pack and posted it on the forums, but it didn't get many views =(
so I looked for popular fan sites and I found PMC
I posted it here and it got tons of views yay =D

If you already have a mac, install windows on your mac to test it out!
But if you are used to macs you will probably hate windows.
Even though mac os is better imo I was once a windows user and i hated switching to macs because I was used to windows. Of course most people on gaming forums only care about games, and it's the only thing windows does better.
The most important thing in mac os is that its coherent, unlike windows, I learned computing on windows, im used to it , but it still feels awkward.
Personally I prefer linux, but this thread is mac vs windows...
Final verdict:
Ease of use, peace of mind: mac
Gaming : Windows
Cool and manly: linux
