Champagne
is another type of dilution, named after a famous horse with the pelt color, although it was not the first to show it. The Champagne gene alters the black hairs to a taupe color and red hair to a gold or apricot shade. They also show a pink to purpleish mottled skin and light eyes, usualy green, razel or amber colored.
When there is a mix between a double cream dilution plus champagne on any baser coat color, the resulting horse is nearly white with very pale skin and blue eyes. Some times there is some subtle freckling of the skin.
