This is a Nightmare Being that haunts the dreams of humans, it can only escape the dream realm when someone sleeps in the Nether. It can have as many hands as it wants. It was created during the rein of The Nameless One or Herobrine when a guard was needed for the dream realm. Not much is known about that era so no one really knows how it was made and exactly what in the dream realm it was guarding. Some say it was a mystic crystal in the center of the realm, others that it was just created to give people nightmares. Nowadays is seems to be exploring the dream realm, perhaps looking for it's lost master.
