Description

As some of you may know, I made a mod called SimpleGuns. But since everyone and their mother has made a gun mod, I decided to try something on the opposite end of the scale: something I'd never seen done before. A while ago, when I was just starting out with modding, I had an idea for a mod that adds exploration-related things such as instant tents, handheld lanterns, and climbable ropes. But, I didn't have the experience needed to make it a reality. Now that I've had a fair amount of practice and am on a quest to clear my name of "just another gun modder" status, I decided to give it another go. This mod is the result of that effort.

Please note: This is an early release. It is probably very buggy and does not include as many features as it will in the future.

Features

Tents


Tents are an item that can be used to create a 4x5x3-block building instantly. For balance purposes, the tent cannot be reclaimed once used. The tent blocks break instantly upon being hit (as if in creative mode); this is a bug and will be fixed in the next version. Tents have a maximum stack size of 8. They can be dyed any color by placing them in the crafting grid along with one piece of dye. The recipe is shapeless so it doesno t matter where in the grid you put them.
Lanterns

Lanterns are an item that will create an area of light around the player while held in their hand. Since entities cannot emit light, the idea is to place and remove invisible blocks as the player walks. The rapid updates may cause framerate issues on slower computers, but I haveno t experienced anything too bad as of yet.
Headlamps

Similar to lanterns, except worn as head armor to allow use of other items at the same time. For balance purposes, they do not provide any defensive value. Naturally, theyo re also more expensive than their handheld counterparts.
Spyglasses/Telescopes

Can be used to see far-away things. Hold the right mouse button to zoom in. They come in two varieties: o Cheap Spyglasso is made with iron and has a 8x zoom, and o Fancy Spyglasso is made with gold and has a 20x zoom.

Climbing Rope

This can be placed on the underside of a solid block, and will create a vertical rope below the original until it hits another block. This rope can then be used as a ladder.

Grappling Hook

A throwable item that attaches to the bottom or side of the first block it hits, then creates a climbing rope below it. This makes grappling hooks more versatile than regular climbing ropes, but they're also more expensive.

Installation

1. Install Minecraft Forge. You can get the latest version from this page.
   
2. Download this mod, then drag the .zip file (without extracting anything) into the mods folder in .minecraft.
   
3. Run the game and have fun!
