Hi! So, a lot of the MC community doesn't use the java edition, but wants PC maps, so what I wanted to do is have PC maps and covert them, then put them up for download (for free). Is it okay if I use this for that?
ok i have a question. I am seeing from other posts that when people convert worlds they are spawned at the original spawn point. I am converting from MC Win 10 (Realms) to Anvil (PC) I spawn probably at the original spawn point but have no clue as to where I am or even what direction to go in to find my progress. Is there a way to find your stuff without spending hours looking for it. Are the coordinates the same because I tp to my coordinates on Realms and nothing but terrain so I have no idea where I am supposed to find my progress in MC 10/Xbox Realms the coord are 3220 125 -979 Anyone can help me with this/ Thanks.

My understanding is the Coordinates are the same...I have never used the tool from Windows 10 Version to anything else...My conversions have all been Java to Windows 10. I will confirm coordinates in my converted worlds tonight.

Now...if the conversion tool is not meant to convert the world type you are starting at, I suppose what would happen would be you would get a completely new generated world and so there would be nothing you made anywhere no matter the coordinates...Like I said though...i do not know...the extent of my usage of the tool has only been Java to windows 10.
Hey I am unable to convert my map as well. It says it must be done manually. Could someone help? Here is the link:

I saw that someone had posted on reddit about a month ago that they were having a similar problem to me. In about long, two or three-chunk-wide strips, my world is just as it should be, but other then that long strip of terrain that is familiar to what I converted, the rest of the terrain is newly generated and most definitely not MY terrain. It is as if the converter only converted a section of the source world, and I was not even lucky enough for the chunks it chose to include my ONE build in the world.

This could be that the generated chunks of this world are... very plentiful. it IS large world, with about 3000 by 3000 chunks preloaded upon conversion. The first time i tried this, before preloading chunks, the world size was probably around 300 by 300 chunks, and it worked perfectly.

for now, I am going to hop into MCEDIT and delete some chunks.... see if that helps, but the whole point of moving the large map over to Bedrock was so that me and my buddies could enjoy custom terrain, at least until we got wayyyy far out.

That sounds odd...Care to share the map for some testing? Never seen anything like that in the ones I have converted.
So I have an interesting situation, and I am not sure how to proceed.

I am attempting to convert a map that I used to play on back in the day. While the conversion process is complete the map is missing large portions of the map that I assume are regenerated using the seed. and the city that is located at x -1700 z -730 is missing the majority of its construction. I was wondering why this is. Thank you for your time.

Can't save my progress after conversion. Everything I do is lost after I "exit and save". When I get back I'm at the same default spawn location of the converted map and nothing that I did is still there. Also, uploading the map to Realms only works at the first time, the second time as soon as I log in, I fall into a void of no blocks and then I die at the bottom of it. Probably is the same problem that causes these issues for single player and Realms. Solve one and you solve the other.

Just fixed it, people! Follow the steps:

1 - Convert the world
2 - Enter Minecraft, go to the pencil icon of the newly converted world and EXPORT it to some folder
3 - Go to the file of the world you just exported and click twice on it, Minecraft will open and load the world from that file. Note that the size in MBs of the directly converted world and the file of the converted and then exported (and then re-imported) world are different
4 - Open the newly imported World and see if everything is working fine and saving and etc... if it's ok, just delete the first converted one that's buggy.
5 - VoilĂ ! Just enjoy your working world! (this did it for me!) :D

Are any of your converted levels saving your progress in Bedrock edition ( Xbox One, Windows 10, )? For me it doesn't save my progress and kicks me back to beginning of the spawn zone whenever I log off and back on, and even the items I took out of my chest are back in its pristine state. Its as if the world is perpetually in a "ground hogs day" state.

Now...When i started the game in windows 10 version...the start location is over 1000 blocks away from what you built...but its there...You will spawn under water. Hit Enter and then type or copy and paste

"/gamerule showcoordinates true" (not including the quotes)

This will show you where you are. You want to head to about -64 144 -1221
Thanks so much

Hi, so, I really thank you for making this, it truly is such an awesome converter, and seeming the only one like it currently in existence. All my maps converted, easy and quick, but as stated would happen, a lot of large chunks are missing and replaced with random bits or just giant flat walls on mountains, ESPECIALLY in the AMPLIFIED maps, as expected, I'm sure this has something to do with the new style of "endless" world generation.
But, I have a question, and I hope no one has asked this because I'm having a hard time searching for it.

How can we determine a specified starting location, in the new world, that is near a point in the old world. The in-game "maps" are terrible at determining relative locations between new/old style maps.
I have a house I built, and in Anvil, my savepoint is near it, but as expected, when I load the levelDB version, I'm miles and miles away, and have no Idea what direction to go. I didn't expect the saved starting location to accurately be saved and work properly when converted, but some of my maps do, or get me in a similar general area.
I placed Beacons and Light towers, and neither can be seen from my walking very far in all directions.
Thanks!

Not 100% sure on this...but this is the methodology I would use...Load the Java version. Hit F3 and note your X,Y,Z coordinates. This is where you will need to go.

In the new converted version, you should start at the original starting point of the map, not where your Java character last was. (The character ID/location info is not copied)

Now...it also sounds like it could be a failed conversion, and the actual map is not being converted but rather a new map generated from the see with the name. I had something that sounds like that happen when I had an outdated version of Java. Suggest you also try updating your Java version (Use 64 bit if running a 64 bit OS) and then try the conversion again.

I
f you want to share a link to the Java map, I can also try and see what I can see...
Conversion failed. Please convert manually!! Can resolve this issue, i really want to use this world on windows 10 edition. I would really appreciate it if you can fix it. Thanks!

awsome!!!! and 1 question do maps with command blocks work on mcpe?
  • stevieleevy
  • Level 3
  • Apprentice Architect
  • January 2, 2018, 9:11 pm
I think I can answer this...Sort of. Depends on the command...For example...I have a command block setup that is supposed to give the player 100 gold ingots...and display text. Those copied over perfectly and work. However...another command that is supposed to detect the proximity of a player is copied over, but has a syntax error in the new version of the game...so the old java command stays in the block...but the command does not work and has to be re-coded.
I am having trouble with some specific maps, like my hello neighbor alpha 3 map.
When I press "Convert World" a pop up says: "[ERROR] Conversion failed, you will have to do it manually. (Nukkit server + Anvil2leveldb command)" How can I fix that? Thanks!
Keep up good work!

EDIT: Link Removed.

Just so you know....it will spawn you in a "void" below your creation. there will be bedrock below you and nothing around you and seemingly darkness above. If you fly straight up and break about 4-5 blocks...you will break through (your porch) and see the converted world...which is flat, but once you get outside a certain region area...there will be randomly generated land. Not sure why it did it that way...but I did not get the Error conversion failed...
After Responding, I downloaded the conversion you made and.... well my map is there!
Guess the download I madewent wrong cause I moved my xbox 360 map to my laptop and uploaded it. Then I downloaded it in my new computer and it probably went wrong.
Thanks for helping anyways!
That is really weird. I used presents from xbox 360 for bedrock then like 20 stone, 40 air, 5 dirt, and finaly grass on which there is the house. The reason for air below the ground is to make the basement, which I am working on my xbox right now so air is nothing weird, just the randomly generated land.

No worries...Just letting you know as it was different than any world I had worked with....so I wondered if there was something awry...but I did know that the conversion functioned. Any converted map coming from a platform that restricts the world size will have new randomly generated land at the edges and on into "infinity". Nothing to do about that as far as i am aware. It should keep the map type if the new version understands it though. Like...i think superflat will continue flat forever...

Sounds like its not specific to this specific java instance...but rather a general java error. First, make sure you are running the most up to date Java version for your system.

Goto https://java.com/en/download/manual.jsp

If you are running a 64bit system be sure to download and install the 64 bit version. You should have the 32 bit running to be able to run Minecraft in the first place, but it would not hurt to update it as well. In the ODD CHANCE that you are on a 32 bit OS...then just the 32 Bit version updated ought to do the trick.

I'm trying to convert the skyden map and the program never gets it right, it always replaces most of the void with terrain. but this may also be a problem with Minecraft win 10 edition because there is no void option for world generation.

"The skyden map"...Sorry that I do not recognize this...however...it sounds like you may have the answer already...if there were no option for "void" then it would probably fill with the default random. If you have a copy of the world (the skyden map)...I would be willing to give it a whirl...but from the sound of it...the result will be the same.

Ok, first of all, superflat worlds don't work. After I convert it, then try to enter the world, it crashes MC. No Error messages are given. Another problem- On my creative world- After I did the conversion, I went into the world and it only copied the terrain, nothing that I actually put down. It is an old world, but i ran it with 1.12 before the conversion. Also, sometimes I would come accost missing chunks- sometimes many. Anyways, don't get me wrong- I converted my survival world and everything converted perfectly! 100% awesome! On my Amplified world, it converted just fine- just one thing- outside of unloaded chucks it makes a huge wall where land should be and it drops to regular un-amplified land. Also on the amplified world, when I fly near my house, it crashes! Oh- here is that superflat world I was talking about- see if you can get it to work. https://www.planetminecraft.com/project/burning-pumpkin-witch-111/ It's just a little map I made that a youtuber ended up playing.

Hmm...Unless there is something I am missing about superflat...I wonder about this...as the world I was working to convert started as a completely flat world and I built from there...and the only thing that had issue was the custom villagers with custom trading that were coded from command blocks in a way that was not valid in the new version...I will want to spend some time creating new maps and trying the conversion to be able to give any feedback.

In my own, it copied terrain and everything put down/generated/etc...so I know it CAN do it...there may be another factor we are not yet looking at...

Per the amplified world: Just going out on a limb here...but "amplified" may not be a game "type" that the new version understands...so what it is doing is copying the chunks that have already been generated (Under the amplified rules in Java - but already generated into existence) and then since it does not "understand" amplified" it defaults to generating random world and that means a seed that has no guarantee of matching the "amplified" one which leaves cutoff chunks (walls etc and the normal land). This is similar to the conversion I did for frankzafka...where his was a non-infinite world and what it did was about a 1 chunk space of nothing between the world he had and the randomly generated world...where there were then walls of land/water/etc cutoff at the empty chuncks...but randomly generated beyond that.

As for flying near your house...that sounds like the issue I had...as soon as I flew within range of the custom generated npcs with custom trading/stores/items...it would crash. I removed them from the Java version and then everything works fine. Is there anything special in/on/with your house? Anything coded through command blocks/java/etc?

I will give that superflat world a whirl...and get back to you.

It works fine on superflat worlds...the crash has to do with the new MC having to try to load something it does not understand. I just made a new superflat world and converted it in moments. yours is tricky...as a playable game...you have custom things created and named and positioned etc. and one of them is coded in such a way that causes the crash when read in the new MC...It must exist in the first chunk that loads, since the level will not start at all. In the case of mine, or your other one where you talk about flying near your house...something in the chunk that includes the house is the issue. For me...it was npc's with custom trades/items As soon as I removed them, Everything loads perfectly. I would have to start erasing things systematically from your world...and not knowing how much is going on and where and how...that would take more time than I am willing to put into this. I tried erasing everything surrounding the start point, but there is something more somewhere that loads immediately...i suspect it is in the main "burning witch building"...and it would take a lot of trial and error to find out where. For me...i flew around my map finding the boundaries of where the crash occurred. Then, in Java figured out what was in that area that as not in the rest of the world, which all loaded fine. First, I removed everything, leaving the just open space. That converted properly, then I put an old save in and removed just part until I had ruled things out systematically. Unfortunately for you...the starting area crashes it...so it complicates that process. If you want to go through in Java and make a second copy and remove all the customized stuff...i bet you could get it to convert.

Sorry it is not a superquick fix for you... .~_~.
