Enchanted Book Extractor DataPack v0.1
by yosho27
for Minecraft 1.14 (18w43c)

This is essentially just to demonstrate how powerful Minecraft 1.14 commands are. The whole datapack is just 10 commands.

Throw an enchanted item, a book, and...
...a lapis lazuli to extract the last enchantment from the item into the book.
...a lapis block to extract all enchantments from the item into the book.

The lapis is consumed. The original item is not.

Such a time-saver DataPack, and the best? It''s working on 1.15 too!

Awesome pack. FYI istead of distance=0.01..1 you can just write distance=..1. Also it takes away enchants from other enchanted books as well

awesome pack yosho! i really wish you could separate the enchantments from books with multiple on (e.g. from fishing when you get incompatible enchants) but i’m bad at datapacks. does anyone know how to do that or if such a pack exists already?

while the exact mechanic is a bit weird (i'd prefer use of a crafting station rather than throwing on the ground), this certainly is inspiring. do you think someone with no modding experience could make something similar but within a crafter like the anvil?

In a datapack you couldn't do it with an anvil or crafting table, but you could maybe make an interface using a chest sort of like https://www.planetminecraft.com/mod/custom-nbt-crafting-utility-amp-new-crafting-chest/

I don't know if you could do that with no experience in mods/datapacks but you could certainly learn.

Wow, this is impressive! Is there any way you could make a 1.13.2 version? Or that may be too difficult? Either way, extremely impressive, keep up the good work!

Nope. I pretty much made this to show off things you could do in 1.14 that you couldn't previously.

Lol, I didn't even see that. Yeah, I messaged Civet before I posted it and it sounds like he'd had roughly the same idea too when he saw the new 1.14 commands. I actually made the datapack on Wednesday; I just didn't get a chance to make the video until the weekend. I think mine actually has a little more functionality, but I guess we all had basically the same first thought upon seeing the snapshot.
