I find Skyblock maps to be the greatest challenge that Minecraft has to offer, from the classic Skyblock by Noobcrew to the FTB pyramid challenge map. Hanging precariously over the void has been one of my favorite pastimes for years.

Recently, I decided to give back to the community by creating this mod. So what does it do? Well, it makes impossible things possible.

By using hammers, sieves and crucibles, and starting from nothing but a single tree and a small patch of dirt, you can already obtain the following things: Saplings for Oak, Spruce, Birch and Jungle trees, Dirt, Sand, Gravel, Netherrack, End Stone, Soul Sand, Iron, Gold, Coal, Lapis, Redstone, Glowstone, Cocoa Beans, Grass, Mycelium, Red Mushrooms, Brown Mushrooms, Melons, Pumpkins, Cactus, Sugarcane, Diamonds and Emeralds. All of this is in addition to all the things that you could normally get as a clever player. =)

This mod supports Buildcraft, IC2, MFR, Applied Energistics, Thermal Expansion, Mekanism, Torojima's Chococraft, Railcraft and Forestry (including bees from Forestry, Extra Bees, and Magic Bees!). You can obtain all the required items for these mods without leaving the comfort of your castle in the sky. Many other mods are supported through an addon called Ex Aliquo.

These items are available in peaceful mode, for those players who wish to build in peace: String, Slime Balls, Gunpowder, Blaze Powder, Blaze Rods, Ender Pearls, Bone Meal, Carrots and Potatoes,.

There are a couple things that everyone might be able to use. A new way to process ore. A crook for moving or nudging your animals without hurting them or luring them with food. You can even throw stones at your enemies if you find yourself in desperate need of a long range weapon.

However, just because these things are possible, does not mean that I've made them easy. I've put a lot of thought and effort into making sure that the new mechanics that I've added are both fun and balanced. Try it out next time you find yourself on a Skyblock or Superflat map and see for yourself.

There is a community built wiki forming. Check it out or lend a helping hand.

This mod will work with any map, but I recommend either this custom map made by QuantumBlade, or the original skyblock map by Noobcrew. The mod is fully multiplayer compatible. In fact, I recommend playing with your friends so you can distribute some of the work.

This is a Forge mod, so you'll need to install that before you play with this mod.

- corrected code in several places that can cause NullPointerExceptions
in combination with Thaumcraft's lights. (spreading infested leaf
blocks, crooks, and scented hives)

- fixed Curious Hives being created with bad metadata and not breaking correctly with a scoop.

- FINALLY fixed that bug that caused infested leaf blocks to turn back to green when tapped with something.

- added some code that should make barrel contents change on everyone's screens in SMP.

Hey, I´m doing another add-on to this AWESOME Mod, that´s the reason for me to develop this new add-on, and not only for this mod, It aims to be a bridge between a lot of mods, but of course, ex nihilo was the first, the only thing it´s buggy it´s the Osmium Ore, it can´t be crushed into little gravel,sand or dust chunks.

I gotta say, I was skeptical about using this mod at first, I thought it would take some of the challenge away or something, but after seeing Direwolf20 using it in Agrarian skies, I am willing to admit this looks like a very fun mod to use!

Do you have two copies of Ex Nihilo in your Mods folder or something?


The log you posted says that Witchwater is being created twice for some reason.

I really do wish this was compatable with Tinker's Construct, but alas, it is not. Other than that, really great mod. Definite diamond.

Like multipleskins below me pointed out, Ex Aliquo (the link is in the mod description) adds full compatiblility with Tinkers Construct and makes my ores work in the smeltery. You can even get oreberry bushes out of the sieve. :)

Use the crucible to make lava. Put lava in a stone barrel and put a block of water on top to make obsidian. Sift gravel for diamonds. Build a grassy area at least 24 blocks away from where you spend the majority of time to spawn cows. Sift dirt for sugar cane seeds to make paper.

You knoow what would be amazing? an NEI plugin for this. Even if it's like the ore dictionary one uses, like for sifter, sifter is at the top of the recipe sheet, then underneath there's Gravel-->Netherwart for example.

Great mod! diamond for you.
I do have a few questions though, I was wondering, could you enhance the crook to have the same effect on silk leaves as it has on regular leaves? and also, is it possible for the silk leaves to "decay" like the normal leaves do? if so, that would be very helpful...

Gregtech, not specifically. You can do a lot with the IC2 metals and all the vanilla resources though.

Redpower... What? If Eloraam ever released redpower for 1.6.4 then my mod would automatically detect that the metals that it needs and make them available to the player. She hasn't updated her mod though. If you mean one of the many mods that remake some of her features, let me know which one in particular and I'll check it out.

Maybe I am starting to overthink this mod, but could you make like breaking stone bricks with a hammer resulting in cracked stone brick and maybe make a way to get the mossy cobble and mossy bricks? I know those are also hard to get in vanilla survival, but I just love building with them.

The hammer already turns bricks into cracked stone bricks. =)

Also, if you leave a wooden barrel full of water near cobblestone or stone bricks, and the area is sheltered from the weather and the lighting isn't too bright or too dark, moss will slowly grow on the ground.

I haven't been as thorough in documenting the new features I've been adding. I really should add those to the MCF post. The wiki is up to you and your fellow players though.

Really love this mod. Also have a suggestion, I try to get redstone and such, but it's hard to get the dust everytime again. What do you think of impletmenting an enchantment like crusher I and crusher II, so you can get like dust from gravel and sand from cobble with crusher I and dust from cobble with crusher II.
Do you think it should be OP or perfectly possible?
