We have been working on a "small" project recently called Fanta Craft. Why? Well... we don't really know, it has nothing to do with Fanta... Anyway, it's finally here! Well, sort of. It is now being released in it's alpha stages, so it is very experimental right now. When ever using the forge make sure to load sticks from the bottom up. The crucible currently has no functional use, but that will be changed. What this data pack does is add custom weapons and crafting to the game. The items have custom durability, and textures. There is a texture pack in the folder that requires optifine, so you'll need to download that. We plan on releasing updated versions soon, so check us out on Instagram @the_voyde for updates and sneak peaks!

-We take no credit whatsoever for the custom durability in this datapack. All of the custom durability data pack was made by Shade. We have been given permission to use his content in here. Check out his content on YouTube, as he is amazing in what he does.

This looks incredible for my server but I just can't get it to work. Running 1.14.4 with the latest version of Optifine. I AM using Optifabric however, so I don't know if that affects it (Im new to MC modding). Villager textures are messed up, the forge occupies 5 blocks and floats in the air, crafting weapons in the forge only gives me a vanilla weapon with a changed name.

'Fanta Craft Resource Pack' is in my resourcepacks folder, and ForgeWeapons in my datapacks folder under the world I wish to use the mod in. Any help is appreciated, cheers

The datapack appears to be working fine for you, but the problem is that the folder titled "optifine" inside the resource pack isn't being read by the version you have. I'm assuming that this is bug with Optifabric as when run on Optifine it works fine. I apologize for the lack of helpfulness of this reply as we're not sure how to help. My recommendation would be to use plain Optifine for now and see if it works.

Oh damn! I was going to make something similar to this! Sick!

Mostly the smelting part, not adding new things, but changing the way that vanilla works. To make it take longer to get to diamond.

Also, why do you require Optifine? That's usually a BIG nono

Why would you need it? Just use CustomModelData...

Also, you should join our discord it's a pretty big Datapack community where we discuss a lot about datapacks, how to improve them, and throw ideas around.

Optifine is required for mechanics such as custom armor textures and creating new mobs(spoilers!). Once we knew that we'd need Optifine we decied to use it fully as it is much easier than custom model data. In addition, Optifine is a very trustworthy and reliable mod that is readily available for players to use.

I mean don't get me wrong, I love optifine. It also makes sense why you're using it, but it's not taking full advantage of datapacks, one big thing being the power to be easily useable in servers, even if they require a resourcepack (server resourcepacks).
Also, there's several workarounds to creating custom mobs, though they can be
#1 A Pain to make
#2 Buggy if you don't do them right.

Now, with the custom armor, you're totally right there, and Mojang should have given us that gosh darn ability for a long time now.
