Welcome to Illumination!
Illumination is a Datapack/Minigame that can be installed into any world! This is done similarly to a schematic, but is instead all in Vanilla Minecraft. Once installed, You can go check out the minigame itself! Although, I highly recommend exploring the rest of the lobby at some point. :)

The Illumination Minigame!
When starting, you will be put into a randomly generated room. Your goal is to use the items given to you to light up the room as fast as you possibly can! Sounds easy enough, but the items given are also(somewhat) random and have different functionalities. As such, you will have a different puzzle every time you play! Players will also have the option to pick a team before the game begins. This means that you can play by yourself, or with a whole bunch of friends! Teams that have successfully lit up the room before their opponents, and before the timer runs out will make themselves the winners!

The Cave of Trials!
If the minigame is currently running and you can't get in to play, then check out the Cave of Trials! In this cave, you must parkour to the end in 60 seconds or less(I'd be extra impressed if you do it in 30 seconds!).

Resource Pack!
You can download the resource pack for potentially less lag, and for a different look. With that said, it does make it more difficult to see transparent blocks(like glass/slime/etc). In order for the resource pack to work, make sure that the option "[Particles]" is set to "Resource Pack". You can set this via "[-Options-]" before starting the game.

Found a bug?
Great! Just send me a DM, and I'll see if I can fix it when I find the time! :)

Thanks for Reading!
Any feedback in the comments below is greatly appreciated! :)

Installing/Updating/Uninstalling the Datapack! - click to reveal
READ BEFORE INSTALLING!!!
#1: If you are going to put this datapack into your world, PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT YOU HAVE A BACKUP OF YOUR WORLD! While I am confident that nothing will go wrong with the installation, it's still possible and it's better to be safe than sorry. If you aren't going to make a backup, then put the datapack into a world that you don't care about.
#2: The 1.13.2 version of this datapack requires the use of the worldspawnpoint, this will be handled automatically. The latest version of the datapack has more features, and does not require the use of worldspawnpoint, so it's recommended to use that instead.
#3: Adding/Removing the structure/schematic is a laggy process!
#4: I don't recommend using this datapack with any other datapacks/commands as there could be compatibility issues.
#5: I also don't recommend using any mods/plugins as they could result in the pack not working properly(Optifine is an exception to this as it's awesome and I highly recommend it).
#6: The gamerules "commandBlockOutput" and "logAdminCommands" will be disabled for a better user experience. You can re-enable them by using the following commands: /gamerule commandBlockOutput true /gamerule logAdminCommands true
#7: Other gamerules may be changed throughout the use of the datapack. However, they should return back to their original settings when no longer in use. This may not be the case with older versions of the datapack.

#6: Place the spawn egg in a place that is FAR AWAY FROM ANY IMPORTANT BUILDS!!! This location should be relatively flat with almost no air/water underneath. Also don't put it in the side of a mountain for example as that will cause extra lag. Also make sure that there aren't any pets nearby as they will be killed!
#7: Once placed, you will be asked if this location is ok. If so, click Yes and expect some tps lag. If not, click No and repeat step #6.
#8: Have fun! :D

1 Update Logs

Update #1 : by SUPERIONtheKnight 05/25/2021 3:53:26 amMay 25th, 2021

Major changes:
  • Updated to 1.16.5! Will update to 1.17 when the update is closer/released!
  • Added Happy Forest Lobby! The trees seem suspiciously happy for some reason... :P
  • Added Christmas Forest lobby! Originally intended to come out around, well Christmas. However the pack wasn't ready, so it was delayed until now! :)
  • Added Medium size rooms and enabled the room size setting! This doubles the gameplay possibilities that existed before! They are also now the default setting when installing the datapack for the first time! Small rooms still exist, and can be accessed any time via the [-Options-] button at the portal inside the house!
  • Small rooms were made slightly easier. This means that you are given more items in some room combinations to make lighting the room slightly easier. This also means that you are no longer required to have to step on redstone ores to light up the room, although you still can! :)
  • Added progress bar! This is displayed right above the hotbar when playing the minigame, and it shows you how far each of the 4 teams have progressed through the game!
  • You will no longer recieve blindness when playing the game. I felt that this results in a better gameplay experience. I might add this functionality again in the form of an option accessible via the portal inside the house. What do you guys think? :)
  • Added particles to the center of the room inside the game. This is an attempt to help indicate that nothing can be placed there.
  • Blocks that the player could not see through in the fast/fancy graphical settings are no longer considered "dark". This should help make the gameplay less frustrating/easier for players.
  • Added a better binary based RNG. This means that rooms generated inside the game should be way less repetitive now, and have a bit more variety.
  • Added a reward for beating the cave of trials for the first time! If you've already done this, you should automatically recieve it when updating!
  • Revamped the /reload menu.
  • Added a Mailbox! Currently has no functionality, but I do plan to make this do something in the future!
  • Added a "[Fix Pack]" option inside the /reload menu. This option can potentially fix the datapack if the lobbies area_effect_cloud entity was moved or killed. Will be grayed out when the lobby isn't installed.
  • The datapack now features an "[Update]" button in the /reload menu. This appears if the datapack was updated recently, and the user typed /reload. The datapack will not run unless you use this button.

Minor and Technical changes:
  • Armor stands that spawn with the datapack are now markers.
  • Updated text when installing/uninstalling lobby to include additional warnings.
  • Updated NBT data to use NBT format instead of JSON(*shouldn't* affect the datapack at all).
  • The worldspawnpoint is no longer used. Instead an area_effect_cloud is used to mark where the lobby is. This unfortunately means that for now, you will need a large enough render distance to see the entire lobby for the datapack to work properly when using it. However in exchange, it should be compatible with more datapacks as a result.
  • Updated entire datapack to be more compatible with a VSCode extension. This will make development much easier!
  • Updated entire datapack file structure to be more compatible with "DatapackChecker" by Bertiecrafter. This means that the namespace is no longer "illumination", but "superiontheknight" instead. This also means that it will be compatible with more datapacks as a result.
  • Added more code comments, including #As/At comments for compatibility with "DatapackChecker" by Bertiecrafter.
  • Added coordfind functions. These are used to find where the lobby is located if need be.
  • When the game generates a new room, it will now fill the air pocket left behind with spruce planks.
  • Updated portal code to allow for nether/end portals in larger room sizes.
  • Updated block tags to support all of the new blocks added in the updates 1.14, 1.15, & 1.16.
  • Portal mist will appear sooner for new players.
  • Disabled portal for any players in spectator mode(if players wish to use it, then they should simply swap to creative/adventure/survival).
  • Anyone who changes their gamemode to survival whilst inside the lobby will be set to adventure mode. This is to prevent confusion for the player when messing around.
  • Updated my NPC message to better reflect my current media outlets.
  • Removed sign advertisement as it wasn't needed.
  • Removed extra sign data that wasn't needed.
  • Fixed spelling throughout the datapack.
  • Added the following score objectives to fix bugs, and make stuff work: "IlluminationIC", "IlluminationID1", "IlluminationID2", "IlluminationID3", "IlluminationID4", "IlluminationCID1", "IlluminationCID2", "IlluminationCID3", "IlluminationCID4"
  • Added math functions.
  • Fixed bugs.
