Once you've got your full protection IV diamond gear and your sharpness V diamond sword, there isn't really much more to do in this game of mining and crafting. This datapack was made to change that.

mcEXP adds nine skills that you level up by doing common things in the game, like attacking or mining. As you level up these skills, you get better at doing these things via permanent potion effects. At level 100 strength, you can kill a zombie in one hit with just a punch!

mcEXP also contains its own unique, comprehensive class system. Are you a ruthless attacker? Choose the Warrior class. Do you enjoy being unkillable? Then the Guardian is for you. Do you like to explore everything in sight? Then the Scout class will help you. Do you need more levels for enchanting? The Wizard class is for you. The Miner is for those who can't get enough diamonds, and for the archers among us I made the Ranger. Finally, if you;'re looking for a blend of playstyles, go for the Champion. Each of these seven classes has their own buffs to XP gains, and each (minus Champion) also possesses a special skill that must be charged.

Finally, mcEXP contains a prestige system. You can use your levels over 100 to buy prestige points, which can be spent on crazy buffs like:
- Diamond ore drops a steak!
- Overlevel enchantments up to level VI!
- Gain a full row of absorption hearts on respawn!
- Change your class!

mcEXP can be installed on any vanilla 1.13 world. Simply unzip the .zip file in the datapacks folder of your chosen world. Do not be alarmed if it takes a while to level up; this is intentional.

You may use this datapack on a server freely, If you post the server online, make sure to credit me for the datapack.

It has come to my attention that multiple websites are stealing and reuploading this datapack. You may only download this datapack and play it for use in a singleplayer world, or a multiplayer server (preferably contacting me first for the latter, so I can look at your server, and provide tech support if needed). You may NOT reupload this datapack ANYWHERE unless there is no download and there is a link to this here page. You may make modifications or tweaks with my express permission. Thank you for reading.

Ay! It's me, ThatPSIkid, I was the one giving suggestions before.

So I recently found an issue regarding how leveling buffs work. For some reason, all classes' buffs don't seem to work (ex. Miner still awards only 1 XP, while it really should award triple that). I'm not sure if it worked for you when you tested it, but the leveling buffs just don't seem to work when choosing the desired class.

Mind if you test this out?

Am I really? Strange... I did download the version with the Champion (I believe that’s the latest version) as a new class and that bug seems to persist. Is it because I’m on 1.14.1?

Yeah, really strange, considering I fixed that bug in that very version... Could be a 1.14.1 problem, but I don’t know; I haven’t tested it much on the new versions.

Hang on a second... I must be extremely dumb minded.

i thought when the class book talks about level up buffs I thought it meant as in doubling or tripling the amount of XP you get. But I realized that it doubles or triples your level gains.

i must’ve thought this out all wrong, lol.


Well, now that I know this, maybe you can find a way so that level buffs only multiply XP and not level gains?

I bought enchanted epiphany, and it hasn't been doing what it says. I've been trying to level up my efficiency 3 pickaxe to efficiency 4

Make sure efficiency is the first enchantment on the pickaxe. Also make sure that you are using Arcane Epiphany.

I've been messing around with the scoreboard, changing the score from active to not and owned to not, and i got it to work, but then it just stopped working again

Getting an issue where intelligence stoppes displaying experience gains (it just sits at 0/550). some people on my server have started gaining exp again while others are just stuck at 0/550. Any idea on this or how to fix it?

- dying at least for myself did start the process back up
- with the others it seemed to just start back by itself but they arnt the most observant bunch so its hard to say.

Is there anything that describes what the abilities do. I keep getting arcane Epiphany but have no idea what it actually does.
Also you can cheese int levels by dying with levels over and over again. I get it decreases the amount but if you get 30 lvls you can get a ton of levels before it runs out....


Would be cool to get like a wiki page going or website that tells us a bit more in regards to each skill/class/ability

skills - what we do that actually gains xp towards that skill

abilities - what the ability actually does



Some Ideas for future updates

1 - Make it so you can only gain prestige for skills that your class effects

- if all you need is 100 levels then you could essentially max out everything sorta fast at once
2 - Make skills xp requirements scale per level

3 - Add all stones to mining (granite, diorite, andesite instead of just stone)

this is a really cool mod, but there are 2 things that i could see being improved.

first, i am not a fan of the cycling numbers at the bottom of the screen. way back in the day before datapacks there used to be a plugin for bukkit servers that had the same effect as this. it handled the stats in a similar manner. the difference was that if you wanted to see your stats you would type in a command. /stats showed an overview of everything, while /(name of stat) showed just that stat and an explanation of what it did.

maybe something like this is possible.

the second improvement i would like to see is support for 1.14. i tried this on the latest snapshot and everything works as intended, but there are a few things that aren't taken into account. the crossbows for example don't count towards archery.

all things considered, this is a pretty good data pack.

1.14 support will be fully added when the update is released. I could do your suggestion for the stat tracking; I might add several new modes for the stat tracking in an upcoming update, along with Expert mode.

Hey, loving this pack so far! Really great work.

I'm wondering if there is any other way to check your progress on leveling up your skills other than the flashing action bar text? As others have stated, having it constantly flashing is quite annoying so I toggled it off, but now I can't find any way to actually check my progress.

What I would suggest is have the action bar flash the players progress whenever they hit certain milestones in a skill. For example if the player is mining and they progress to the next mining level by 25%, flash their progress in one action bar text update. Again for 50% ,75% and 100%. That way players have some idea of their progress but are not being spammed by the action bar.

Are you asking how high you can jump? You can jump 0.5 blocks higher for each level of the Jump Boost potion effect that mcEXP gives you.

I tried to delete the datapack from one of my testing worlds by deleting the mcexp files from the datapacks folder, and the commands and books from the pack are still present in the world, how would I remove every part of the pack entirely?

What do you mean the commands are still present? Is the datapack still running? If so, run the command /reload. You have to remove the books yourself.

When I say the commands are still present, I mean they still show up as autofills. For example, after typing /trigger, the list of autofills will include arc_toggle, jmp_toggle, min_toggle etc. I ran /reload a few times and this didn't change.

I used 100 prestige points to change my class to Wizard so that I could increase enchantment levels, and now I can't gain any experience in intelligence at all, rendering the class change useless. How can i fix this?
