Stranger Things - The Upside Down is NOT a dimension mod that you have to travel to. Just like in the show, it really is right next to you, within your current world.
If the Demogorgon drags you into the Upside Down, you will still be in the same world. But everything's different. A thick gloomy fog surrounds you, creepy vines cover the walls and floors, dead particles float around.
Act quickly, because once you are in the Upside Down, the demogorgon is coming. And if it catches you, there is little chance of escape.

Mind Flayer is basically the one thing stop you to explore upside down definitely.
If you remove him pls, explain to me WHY!?
It never spawned when you were already in the upside down, it would just randomly spawn and instantly teleport you to the upside down.
On the other hand, the demogorgon can spawn even if you are already in the upside down.
Anyways the Mind Flayer was never truly finished even in 1.7.10, I didn't remove it, but it's also not finished being ported to 1.12.2 either.
made me more unconfortable to explore his dimension.
And sometimes I see the Mindflayer spawning in 1.7.10 version during my adventure on the upside down. Probably it's just a bug

However, the Hawkins Lab thing was unfortunately never completed, so it doesn't spawn.... :(
You can always download a Hawkins Lab map and play it with Call to Battle installed, that's a fun thing I've done before!
SPOILER ALERT!
1. Demo Bats
In Season 4, We see new creatures in the Upside Down, The Demo Bats, These things are only in the Upside Down and attack any living being besides people from their race (Demogorgons etc) They are pretty fast and strong aswell, Since a few of them we're able to hold Eddie with ease and the others started to eat him.
You can't summon them manually, You need to go to the Upside Down to find them.
2. Demo Cats
Basically Demogorgons but smaller versions, Like their name, They are cat shaped, But they are also very agile, They are weaker than the Demogorgons though.
3. Demo Dogs, They are also pretty much the Demogorgons, But alot stronger than the Demo cats, They are shaped as a dog like their name, They are also very agile too and do much more damage to the player.
But after a while, They start having black effects on their body and then in a few minutes, They will transform into a fully grown Demogorgon, Just like in the series.
Andddd that's all! I hope You can add these Upside Down creatures in the mod in the future! Take Your time if needed, You can add them one by one! The one I'm most interested to see is the Demo Bats. Anyways have a good day!
So, Why does the Mind Flayer not attack the player in the overworld but only in the Upside Down?
Speaking of the Mind Flayer in the Upside Down, Why is it only his dark foggy shadows that kill You but not his body like in the real world?
One time, When I was playing, The Mind Flayer did actually attack Me in the overworld out of nowhere and instantly transported Me to the Upside Down, And then I saw his shadows and his real body, He started to suck Me up while the Shadows we're subdeuing Me.
It was cool, I wanted to try it again but I didn't knew how to do it again, And it's rare I think
I stopped watching it soon after that point as the show just continued to get more and more messed up and disturbing... and in my opinion did a poor job of handling what made it so interesting in the first place - The Upside Down. (From what I've read about the later seasons)
I liked that it was a cool mystery thriller show, but sadly it swapped that out for gruesome shock and later further devolved into senseless serial killer stuff.
Anyways the most complete part of the mod is the demogorgon, the mind flayer was rushed and was kinda done sloppily in my opinion.
