1.5:1 Scale SS United States by Barrett
Built using the Opifex Texturepack (https://discord.gg/3NHcMNse7V)
This version depicts the ships state during her 1952 maiden voyage; this includes a different, more complex rigging configuration, as well as the addition of signal flags across the forward and aft lines. This project took over 2 months to complete and is to my knowledge, one the most accurate depictions ever built in minecraft.
The SS United States was a groundbreaking American ocean liner, renowned for its speed, luxury, and technological innovation. Launched in 1951, it was designed to break transatlantic speed records while also serving as a rapid troop transport in wartime. The ship’s sleek, modern design, along with its powerful engines, enabled it to set a speed record that still stands today. Despite its success, the United States struggled financially and was retired in 1969, spending decades in limbo. Though its future remains uncertain, the ship remains a symbol of mid-20th century American ingenuity and maritime grandeur.
