Hello everyone! How are you doing? I’m been really excited to finally show this piece to you! Sadly I’m already back with classes but it was nice to get it done… just don’t expect any 10:1 again any time soon xD.

Finally here it is, my massive model of the LMS Coronation Scot locomotive. This is my most detailed and biggest engine so far! It took a very long time, headaches and looking at plans.

This will be also my official entry for the vehicle contest! Speaking of which, good luck for everyone involved!

I knew I had to make it this big when I randomly came across a really detailed blueprint online. Most things, specially on the engine, are as accurate as I could do them in Minecraft. It was quite a challenge to fit and represent everything and got me using some other types of blocks that I never thought about. Still, the biggest challenge and also the best part about this project was the feeling of being an engineer, trying to figure out mechanical parts, where they fit and how they connect, based on that 2D side view and an handful of pictures. Besides, it is really nice to see how thigs work and what lays beneath the streamlining plates.

This project features the LMS Coronation Class, in the Crimson Lake livery, early streamlined and single chimney, with FULL cab and interior details*, buit to 10:1 scale.

As always, I hope you like it and to get your feedback! Thank you!

Make sure you give a look at the many renders.

Even though I expected to see a lot of details with a 10:1 scale (pictures still show 3:1 in lower right corner) it still surprises me how much detail you actually put into it. At least, judging from flying through the map and looking into the parts where renders hardly come.

Flying underneath it, I noticed the big wheels have only one brake/wheel, I guess that is part of the design (personally I would have expected brakes on both side of a big wheel). By any means, can you link those detailed blue-prints?

As for the recreation, there is one little thing partially bugging me. The wooden rails (nice choice of putting light grey carpet on top of it, showing the part where the wheels ride on), a bit more darker would be better. Something like "polished blackstone stairs".

Either way excellent job!

(the cab and tender screenshots even say CP E140 xD - that was when I made this template - thank you for the heads up, tomorrow I will fix them and make a clear template)

Thank you very much! This was a LOT of work! :D
(oh ups, problems when using a template... I also did almost forgot the 3:1 in the title... )

Yes it did also suprised my quite a lot... Firstly I was expecting that the trailing wheels also had brakes but yeah. Actually for most steam engines I know there are only brakes on one side because the breakes on both sides require a bit more mechanical work and on a locomotive with many wheels and handbrakes is not as need as in a wagon I would think. On the plans the brake capacity actually states 51% but I'm not sure what it means. The sanders also surprised me in that regard, I was expecting sanders on all driving wheels but only the first and second wheels have them, tho the second driving wheels does have sanders on both sides at least. A nice surprise was the boggie on the trailing wheel, I was expecting it to be fixed into the frame, but that way it does allow for more stable tighter turns.

For my main blueprint, some front and inside detail and overhall dimentions.

Sure for future works I might consider other options, also for the ties, afterall the track was a last moment detail.

Those blueprints, I can see what you mean with:
"Still, the biggest challenge and also the best part about this project was the feeling of being an engineer, trying to figure out mechanical parts, where they fit and how they connect, based on that 2D side view and an handful of pictures"

Regarding the sanders, that is something I didn't knew at all. I guess the next time I see a locomotive I probably try to spot one.

haha yeah xD... also the let me try and follow that dotted line is a nice game ...

And they are just some pipes that point into the interface between the wheel and the rail, dispersing sand to increase traction when needed, probably hard to see since they are so low in the shadow and obscured by the wheels and frame.

I can't recall the side view with the names of the part, you added it? It's nice thing
