38-gun Frigate “Renommee”

A stunningly beautiful ship, this excellent naval frigate is revered for her beauty, attractive hull design, large interior and fancy furnishings. Large, impressive and quite simply, awesome, she's become a hallmark of classic frigate hull design in my adventures in my flatland shipyard. Fitted with a well-organized orlop deck, and a shallower keel than most other frigates, Renommee was built with the shallow seas of the Carribean in mind.

This ship was designed for a friend of mine in the service of the French Navy, which when built was severely lacking any ships of true firepower. As the French like their ships to look fancy, I put extra effort into making her as pretty and lavish as I could, deriving inspiration from the stunning building style that a close friend of mine used to builder her crowning jewel, the French capital of Martinique! Though they never got the money to buy it, she will serve as their primary naval ship at the beginning of our new server, The New World.

Basic Statistics:
Keel Length: 36 blocks
True Length: 40 blocks
Max. Width: 13 blocks
Rig: Square, Frigate(x3 masts)
# of Sail: x7 square, x3 jib, x6 jib-stays
Server Price: 348 Asters
Movecraft Class: 4/8

If you wish to use this in a multiplayer environment or post this anywhere, please remember that I built this and mark your post/copy accordingly. Thank you.

The "Renommee" is in "player scale"- a term I've coined to describe the building scale me and my fellow builders use to build our ships, and something that I think the majority of ships in our minecraft communities do not possess. PS ships are designed not only to uphold an aesthetic appeal, but to also to serve a purpose as a vehicle; a home and a piece of property for a player- or perhaps something survival/adventure maps could use. Ships in this scale are designed specifically to meet the needs of players who use them; no large ceilings, no sprawling 1.1 scale ships.

However, it has it's own unique charm to it. The thing that motivates me the most in building these ships is the knowledge that my ships will not just serve as an aesthetic masterpiece- but as a true ship sailing the seas, engaging in the art of naval warfare and exploring new lands in the name of empire. And that is why I build for The New World, and why I hope that player-scale ships become more commonplace in the minecraft community
CreditTo the Governor of Martinique, who said she loved the ship and that it was one of my best.

Some changes! : 04/16/2016 10:39:58 amApr 16th, 2016

The Renommee was a very beautiful ship when I first built her, and was a truly revolutionary design along my journey of shipbuilding for AOA/TNW. However, my skills have improved over time, and its only right I apply them to the Renommee; like I have to the Revenge-class frigate. (more on that later!)

Soon, I'll be updating her with a dramatically different bow design, a much lower freeboard and a total re-do on her masts and rigging. It looks pretty neat so far!

<3 Thaaaanks.

By the way, you might be interested looking into biome textures for trapdoors. Then again, idk if you leave one biome and enter another if the texture returns to default....
