Hey everyone,
I had an idea earlier today and I wanted to test it out as a proof of concept. Basically this is a conversion of a 3d model into Minecraft, and I used a few programs. Heres how I did it:
- Download a 3d model off of the 3d Warehouse, this is the one I used
- Import it into a 3d modeling program, I used Sketchup
- Take screenshots of each elevation of the model
- Edit the screenshots in Photoshop to rescale/resize to fit minecraft and make sure each part will fit together
- Use Spritecraft or similar program to export the images as pixel art schematics
- Import schematics in game and put them together
Overall I think it looks pretty cool, but I probably wont be using this method for anything since it looks kind of strange. Still thought it was worth sharing.
Please note that I did not make the original 3d Model, but it can be found here.
