Hey guys! Welcome to a very special post: today we're celebrating 500 PMC subscribers! :D
Thank you so much everyone for the support! 500 subs... that's something I wouldn't even have dared to dream about when I started here!
So, well. Never again I want to hear that dirt houses are nasty, ugly and poorly built things for noobs! Here is your proof! Well hopefully... :P
However, it was not me who came up with this idea; in fact, it was the one and only alecdent. Have a look yourselves:
Ever since, I wanted to do this, as a gag. It's funny how alec never commented or diamonded any of my builds, but appeared randomly it seems on my worst PMC post xD
It was on this one - also it's ridiculous how many views this has got... Honestly I cannot imagine why lol.
Anyway, I decided to do this at the moment I read the comment, but... obviously I didn't want to build just a poor little dirt house like he intended it, I wanted to go for... something bigger. Much bigger. The biggest dirt house ever.
I mean, that's still someting, right?
To build something using only one single type of block is quite a challenge: You can neither use different materials to give it an interesting / characteristic look, nor you can place stairs or slabs for decoration or pattern. So the important thing you have to find out is: What, apart from colours and little ornaments, makes a build look cool? In my opinion, the two main factors are depth and concept of the build. Even though the concept of this palace isn't brilliant, it essentially shapes the building. And then depth helps to fill the empty parts with some nice windows, pillars or other decoration. The plan's ever been to make the build as big as possible, as it allows you to do a much better job with detailing or adding ornaments because there's obviously much more space to build.
I've always wanted to try to build such a one-block-build - this special "event" was the perfect opportunity to do it, and honestly I'm quite happy with the result! =)
As I usually do, I started off with the enterance. Using several Worldedit radii and Voxelsniper brushes, I got a pretty nice curved, grand enterance. Then I expanded the build to the left and right, after that I built the big centre top part with the dome, followed by the walls and the high pillar at the very left / right and finally the garden in front of the build.
As you may have noticed, I used some of the elements (pillars, windows etc.) several times - not because I'm a lazy goose, but because in my point of view it somehow completes and unites the build.
From the very first the the very last block, building this beast was just fun. To let your imagination lead the way, try to reveal the thoughts inside your head and to bring them to life... I love it. So do we all.
The build itself is 394 blocks long and, believe it or not, 256 dirt blocks high! CHALLENGE COMPLETED!
The first image was made with Cinema 4D and some Photoshop editing, all the others are Chunky renders. Increasing the contrast and brightness a bit and playing around with some layers in Photoshop can make them look quite fancy :)
I'd like to thank LouizZ as well for support, feedback and helping out with building! Go subscribe to him! ;)
Again, a big thankyou to everyone who's been actively commenting, diamoning, giving me feedback and everyhing - you're awesome!!
Please don't forget to add your diamond on this special post as well :D

The logic behind this is perfect, if I post a dirt house I can get like at least 5 diamonds and one more sub
Thanks!
when i ever move myself to dirtland i will seriously consider residing this cottage.
Although i am not a fan of enormous builds I say it is a job well done, have a diamond again!
