64 x 64 Town with city-walls and guard-towers.
This town can be used to replace a default village or to create a new one. It's 4x4 chunks in size (64x64 blocks), so you'll have to place the 'structure' four times. The green line indicates the outer corner (guard-tower).
The town includes:
- City-walls with guard-towers and gatehouses.
- Double sets of iron doors on gatehouses, to prevent mobs from entering (or villagers from escaping).
- 16 cabins with double beds, offering accommodation for up to 32 villagers.
- 4 times 36 farm tiles and 8 composters. (You'll need farmers to grow your population)
- 12 shops. Each can hold two villagers, so these provide 24 work-spaces. You'll have to place the desired job site blocks yourself.
- Lots of torches. This town is very well lit.
(edit: there are still some dark spots. you'll need to place torches between the cabins)
- 8 trees.
- Lots of symmetry and repetitive decoration. Considered it a template that can be added on as desired.
After placing the town, you'll need to do the following:
- Place buttons next to the outer doors, on the outside of the gatehouses.
- Place torches outside of town on the guard-towers and on the gatehouses.
- Place water in the wells on the inside of the city-wall, to create infinite water sources.
- Once the population is big enough, you can place job site blocks, for whatever desired professions.
Some tips:
- Always back-up your game before using structure blocks. Try placing the town in a test world first, before using it in a real game.
- Use levers inside gatehouses to keep iron doors open. Use buttons if you want them to close behind you.
- Put items in the item-frames above the doors of shops, so you can easily see what professions are in there.
- You can replace the smooth stone counters inside the shops for more suitable decoration (for example bookshelves for librarians). Furnaces can be replaced by smokers or blast furnaces.
- Once the population is 32, you can remove some farms and composters and use that space for other professions.
- You may want to place some different colors of banners and/or flowers, to break the symmetry and help with orientation. ;)
