Introducing the LAND OF ZEPHER: (Demo v.3)
Backstory:
You awaken in a small prison cell atop a castle, with no idea of how you got there, of who you are, or how you will escape your predicament. But there seems to be someone who knows you. Someone who wants you out... Will you make it out of the castle, and the slave camp?
The odds are stacked against you, and you soon realise that the Zombie Legion are after more than the cities of Zepher...they're after the land itself!
Details:
This adventure uses maps (items) to convey messages, instead of signs.
Also, only load the map if you will enter it in a difficulty OTHER THAN PEACEFUL, otherwise the beginning of the map shall not go as intended. Thanks :)
There is hidden loot scattered across the Land of Zepher, in the form of enchanted armour, weapons and gold bars. Keep the lot until the end then post your high score!
Multiplayer Users:
If you spawn in a place other than inside the prison tower, then you will need to fly up to the top of it, and knock your way in through the roof. To get up there, enter creative mode by using the command: '/gamemode [your mc username] 1', and then once you are inside the tower, exit creative mode by using the command: '/gamemode [your mc username] 0'.

Fun 4/5
Building 4/5
ADV 5/5
'This map was really cool! You are basicly in a town that is being enslaved by zombies and have to go get help from a wizard and than help him to stop the zombies. What really did it more than that for me was how well put together the map was and how if you did the bare minimum you would have a hard time but if you explore a little bit you where able to get items to make it easier. I do have some issues with this map though. My biggest one was how you can go from peaceful room from swarming with zombies too fast with no warning. Among minor other things that was about it. A fun map to play and I would reccomend!'
NOTE: I am continuing to slave away at this map, extending its length and content far beyond the version you will be playing :) It is not yet finished- stay tuned for the full release!

Regarding buildings- this is where I usually spend the most time. I would recommend going with simple buildings, an rich environments. If you take a look at NPC villages, you will see the simplest form of buildings. They are too basic in my opinion, so perhaps start with those buildings and edit them a little. In the well known maps by Vechs, his buildings are remarkably simple, although you should try for something a bit better: his style is CTM and not adventure map. It's always worth searching through screenshots for maps posted on a site such as this one for inspiration.
When I make a map, I get the rough storyline set out, missing the details. I then start to build the beginning of the map, and I get a sense of what is needed, what is missing. I then add whatever I think is required, and move on to the next area.
I use a few mods and programs external to minecraft when making maps. The most useful is mcedit, then singleplayercommands, then toomanyitems. I occasionally hop onto a privately hosted bukkit server and load up the map and use the voxelsniper plugin to create awesome environments easily.
The best tip is this: Make up your own mind on what is important in a map. Do not take anyone's opinion for your own. Read around, read helpful passages like this one, take a peek at buildings made by others, in minecraft and in the real world. Once you have an idea of what makes a good adventure map, then go for it! And have fun- that's the most important thing of all.
