The BlockWorks team proudly presents,
A E T E R N I U M
the Symphony of Dreams
Floating high above the Earth exists a vast fantasy dreamworld, full of strange and extraordinary mechanical creatures. Clockwork bumblebees fly among the mountains whilst a mechanized turkey grazes below. At the center of this dreamworld is a steam-powered orchestra. Huge and complex contraptions operate a wide variety of instruments which perform in synchrony as one melodic collective: the Symphony of Dreams.
Aeternium is full of interesting and exciting details - we strongly suggest you download the project to fully appreciate its complexities.

The Build Process
Aeternium was a collection of ideas and original concepts from many members of the team. Having decided to pursue a project in a definitively steampunk style, the opportunity to follow a musical and instrumental theme seemed ideal as it allowed us to resemble instruments such as bells, horns and pipes which also represent the steam-powered mechanisms of the steampunk style.
As a starting point, we drew some of our own concept art; the sketches below show both details of individual instruments as well as an impression of instruments amalgamated to form a structural facade.
Having defined our style and created a number of individual instrumental components, the overall plan was drawn up - a huge theatre complex. Instrumental components were then fixed around the central theatre area - including an organ, violin, guitar, harp, trombone, percussion, saxophone, guitar and contrabassoon.
As a finishing touch we decided to adapt the full landscape of the island upon which the main structure was built. Mechanised animals inhabiting the terrain were added to connect the landscape to the steampunk style, also helped by the usage of unique steampunk trees.
Despite our plans, the build process was largely organic - new concepts and ideas were added as the build developed, giving the final result of a naturalistic yet stylistically consistent project.

The scale, detail and originality is on a level I dont believe I can reach solo.
This shows the power ~15 people working together.
All I can say: Beautiful!
Amazing job, diamond, subscribed and faved for this project, amazing job
Now I am looking at this... this...
GEM OF ART...
and I just can't express the level of joy, amazingness and euphoria that cumulates in me as I browse thru the screenshots. And I browse faster and faster because I nearly can't believe what my eyes see and I am afraid I won't make it to the last one because my mind explodes before I reach the last picture.
I did not saw the other projects in the contest,
but this one deserved the 1st place for sure...
and the reason why I am so sure in that is because I would even dare to nominate it for the top builds ever in history of Minecraft.
The amount of detail, complexity, ART, and virtuosity, etc. etc. etc. it just does a homage to the humans-gamers-minecraft's creativity "limits".
