The family is one of the most widely-used narrow-body airliners in the world, with over 7,000 in service across the world. Although primarily a European aircraft, American Airlines also has a substantial fleet in the United States.

The aircraft itself features multiple configurations, including both the CFM56 engines and the IAE V2500 engines. In addition, both Airbus's traditional wingtip fences and the newer, modern sharklets are included. The aircraft also features a full interior, including a detailed flight deck, business class, economy class, galleys, and the forward and aft cargo holds.
