Alte Kirche (Old Church) was the old church of Merzenich, near Düren, Germany. It was build around the 14th century and is one of the oldest churches in that region. late 14th century the tower was build which once had a steep spire. In the 17th century the tower gained another storey, and a baroque steeple.
After the new, much larger church St. Laurentius was finished the old church was unused. An Cyclone in the early 20th century has damaged the churche's roofs, and the steeple collapsed. Until the year 1935 the church became derelict. In 1935 parts of it were repaired, and a temporarily simple flat roof was added.
After additional damage in the second world war it became a derelict again, and is now staying as a unused ruin.
