In an attempt to showcase the natural beauty and wonder that the wildernesses of America have to offer, I have started recreating iconic National Parks, Forests, Monuments, and other real-world locations as Minecraft maps. Unfortunately, my individual project pages for different National Parks have been unjustly deleted because they used heightmaps. While the basis of these maps must be a heightmap to achieve realism, I have taken a considerable amount of time to research the vegetation and geology of each location so that I can recreate it with as much accuracy as possible. These maps require a significant amount of time, patience, practice, and skill to make.

I feel like maps of this sort should be allowed on Planet Minecraft as standalone projects, but my opinion on this topic is outweighed by the moderator who removed them. For this reason, I have decided to lump all National Parks into a single project that I will continually update from time to time. The world files are not available through this thread because there are several different maps and more will be regularly added. You can see pictures from the maps that I have made above. If you want to download any of these maps or read more information about how I made the maps, you will find links on my website http://mappingminecraft.blogspot.com under the Landscape Maps section ... Let me know of any other locations you would like to see added to this project!

Update #1 - Devil's Tower National Monument, Wyoming : by rebeeccc 05/15/2016 2:31:34 amMay 15th, 2016

I have added a map of Devil's Tower National Monument in Wyoming. The map is made of Andesite to approximate the basalt that makes the actual tower. The scree piles at the base of the tower are shown as gravel, with Douglas Fir Pines surrounding most of the area in varied densities meant to mimic the actual terrain.
