This was my second big build. It only took six months or so of being on the back burner only 70% complete. I was that much done when someone else posted their own version (though not as good) and I shoved this build out of my mind in frustration.
This is a 1:0.9 scale model of the Angkor Wat Temple in Cambodia. I had to extend the length a bit because of the steps of the top level temple area, in real life, being super steep there. I have done (too much) extensive research on the temple to ensure the best representation of the real thing my mind and Minecraft could create.
Took me a bit to realize by the time I had finished this there were 2-4 others on the website I initially posted this to. As well as there's 3 other Angkor Wat's on this website, but I consider mine the most accurate... >.> (basically... "I spent so much time and effort making this thing it would be a shame not to share it and at least get one "good job!" on it.").
This schematic here is the temple proper including the front flat platform. I have tried to make the temple look like it did when it was a bustling community of worshipers and priests, minus beautiful paintings, wood paneling, or gigantic doors, though may add them later.
There's a bit more to the build than the pictures can show. Signs labeling things, the center shaft found by a frenchman years ago, the libraries, the vast hallways and nearly uncountable pillars (albeit the center shaft is a little more dressed up than the boring 27m deep hole they found with gold leaf/glass/dirt at the bottom).
Sizes:
This Schematic- 350x220x63
Temple proper (no front "porch")- 280x220x63
The center and steps to paradise only - 95x85x53
Additional Notes
The reason for not being 100%
I intend to do more to this build in the future.
-add the paneling
-finish the rest of the landscaping outside to include
--the moat surrounding the build
--the two libraries, road, and gate all much further west than the porch
--landscaping (trees etc.)
-perhaps add more redstone mechanisms to it (secret passages?)
