In the Bastions of Solitude, no man is seen or heard. Here, only animals walk. When one stands on a mountaintop, all is quiet but the birds and the wind in the grass. One finds a lonely kind of peace. Every hill and height is a bastion of solitude.


I made this map to test the vegetation and geology of a style that is based on western American mountains (the Rockies) and the Great Plains. The refined version of that style will be used in several of my upcoming maps. Additionally, I wanted to practice using World Machine, and I thought I was successful with achieving some interesting mountain shapes. The 4000 block map with no obstructive bodies of water or trees is well-suited to the building of large cities and the like. I didn't want to release any more maps with the trees that you have already seen, so this map has no trees. While this by no means is a large or long-term project, it still has a nice style overall. I am working on bigger things, but I simultaneously want to maintain a pretty steady flow of maps. Enjoy!
