Hey everyone!
This is the first building of the Bern building series I have started. Click here for more information.
The Bern Minster is a Swiss reformed cathedral in the old city of Bern. Built in the gothic style, the construction started in 1421. Its tower, with a height of 100.6m (330ft), was only completed in 1893, about 450 years later! It is the tallest and most important cathedral in Switzerland. In my opinion, also the most beautiful. ;)
I decided to build this because I love gothic architecture in Minecraft. Actually, I wanted to build this cathedral from the first day I bought Minecraft (2 years ago).I always thought that it would be impossible, but after some building practice and experience, I have finally been able to build it! It was a pleasure. :)
Recreating a building that already exists can be quite hard - if you want to do it accurately. And I wanted to. So it took quite a lot of time, even though it's not a very big build. I put much effort in it, and I hope you like it. If you do so, clicking on the diamond or favourite button would easily show your support. Also don't forget to leave some feedback - what I could do better, what you like etc. Thanks! :D
Oh, I almost forgot the credits!
Credit goes to:
- Lentebriesje, for the awesome trees! Check them out here.
- LouizZ - support, correcting some wrong placed blocks etc.
- CubicinCubic: Featured image
Thank you guys!
Next building on this series: The Federal Palace! So stay tuned! :D
I used two different texture packs; Johnsmith for the renders (exterior pictures), and Conquest for the in-game interior pictures. All renders except the first one were made using Chunky. I The featured image with Cinema 4D, for the first time. Tell me what you think of it! :D Terrain with WorldPainter.
