Bizar-Filatin
“Of iron were most of the things that they forged in those days, but they prospered after a fashion, and their numbers slowly increased. But, as Thrór had said, the Ring needed gold to breed gold, and of that or any other precious metal they had little or none.”
- The Lord of the Rings, Appendix A, Part III, "Durin's Folk"
This is ArdaCraft’s recreation of one of the dwarven mines in the Blue Mountains from J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings.
Lore
The Blue Mountains have been inhabited by dwarves for thousands of years, and the lore mentions at least four distinct mines in the range. As such, the ArdaCraft team decided to build several mines not specifically mentioned by Tolkien, as it seemed logical.
Bizar-Filatin is therefore not a name Tolkien created, but rather our own creation (constructed from neo-Khuzdul). It means:
"Valley of Refuge"
/bɪzɑr.fɪlɑti:n/
Construction
Every effort has been made to make this mine as functional and realistic as possible, with underground streets, beds for hundreds of dwarves, workshops for professions ranging from carpenter to goldsmith, record rooms, bathouses, kitchens, forges, waterworks and even cesspits all built. The place is a maze, and no screenshot or video can truly do it justice!
Bizar-Filatin forms part of a larger project which seeks to recreate Middle-earth in its entirety. Credit goes to Guan and Soap887 for leading this project, and to the entire community of builders for helping out.
The Blue Mountains can be viewed from above on ArdaCraft's dynmap. There is no download available, but ArdaCraft is a non whitelisted server which anyone is welcome to come and explore, provided they have installed our modpack first.
