Oakview Park. A Canadian treasure. A snowy mountain resort dotted with life. It had an almost impossible beauty, and a mysterious history to match.

Its woodland stretched over 75 acres, and while a village, mining system and an entire community had all been built since its acquisition in 1850, it had remained as natural as ever.

Oakview Park stood on the middle-ground of Mount Sialas, a British Columbian gem at the very top of the northern border. A hidden beauty, Mount Sialas was obscured by three mountains that stood taller, on each of its sides. Ever since Oakview Park was founded, it had been owned publicly, by whatever government or society was around at the time.
This was key to the major role the park had played in the coal mining industry during the 1800s to the 1900s. The Oakview mines went under construction as soon as the land was acquired in 1850, and shortly after, a village was also built, in order to provide the families of the minders with a secure place to live.

The mines ran for over a hundred years. Unemployment plummeted as the number of workers boomed. The caverns and caves deep in the mountain held the purest minerals; its coal was the most potent in the country. At the peak of its success, the park was given a state-of-the-art radio tower, fitted with the latest technology in long range audio and radio communications.

When Canada became an independent state, and separated from the British Empire, Mount Sialas was sold privately to a rich family, who built a mansion near to the outer perimeter of the park. This was the event that sparked the end of the halcyon days for Oakview Mines. The new owners slowly started investing less and less money into new mining equipment and mine expansions, and eventually, they began to cut back the workforce.

Decades passed; owners came in, built their lives, rented a few village houses, sold up again, and left. With every family that moved in, the mining business was stripped away, little by little, until a lack of funding led to the deterioration of the entire system, causing it to be condemned in 1985.

In 1993, Lourette Tilsley, along with her husband, Jakub, and their 8-month-old unborn daughter moved into Oakview Park. Taking charge of the running of the park, Lourette moved forward with the decommissioning of the radio tower. Village workers tried to petition, but it was to no avail. Lourette was gracious enough to let the villagers stay, but the tension between her and one of the families continued to grow. They were relentless in the way they pursued Lourette and her family in court.

Eventually, Lourette and her family decided to move on, and, in 2016, after years of testimonies, petitions and court dates, they’d had enough. The family hired a realtor and sold off both Oakview Park, and Mount Sialas to a young couple from the town just a few miles away, also called Oakview.

Lourette had unwittingly caused so much contention amongst the village; it wouldn’t be easy for the new owners to get along with everyone. Since the announcement was made that Lourette was auctioning off the land, the smarminess the village first felt slowly turned into concern.

What type of people would take over?

Would they choose to evict everyone?

Would they stay and build a family, or would they just be another blip in the timeline of many, many owners?

One thing was for sure – Oakview Park was pristine, mysterious and hugely engrained in British Columbia’s history.
And for Marrianne and Anthony Blaine, the proud new owners, and newlyweds, it would be the perfect place to raise their family.
Or so it should have been….

-The Oakview Chronicles, Introduction

You play the recently-moved-in new owners of Oakview Park; an esplanade packed with vibrant life and an already thriving community. Your residence is a luxurious and spacious lodge at the heart of the park; it is the largest residence in Blackwood and it's known to the locals as: 'The Owners House'...

Along with a large boat dock, there is also a village, radio tower and the mysterious 'Oakview Mines'; all located close to your lodge. Structures like: 'Windhall Cabin' and 'Central Cottage' had been out of use for some time before you arrived, but they still stand and can easily be accessed.

However, all is not as it seems as you begin to find evidence that suggests a darker reason Lourette Tilsley and her family decided to sell the property. As you find more and more of Lourette's diary enteries and various other clues scattered around the landscape, it becomes evident that there is something much more malevolant afoot and the deep-rooted history of Oakview Park is not all it's cracked up to be.

Will you carry on the search to figure out Lourette's fate? Or will you willingly turn a blind eye; maintaining the vicious cycle of terror?

Glad to see you're working on this again, excited to see the full product. :)
Right, my laptop's hard drive has completely broken. Me being an idiot and didn't back up my files means that I might never get my files back, including my minecraft saves folder. I've now got a new laptop, but I don't know if a file recovery will work. I will try and get one done on the hard drive, but if I can't, I'll have to start the map again from scratch. I'm so sorry for this.

I'm REALLY interested in this! :D
Thank you! Trailer coming soon and I'm uploading more pictures today...
The player will find notes which are scattered all over the map. Accumulating more and more notes will reveal the secrets of the story. The map relies on a player's ability to not cheat; otherwise the story will not make sense.
Love the idea, but how will this work?
How long do you think it will take to finish?
Oh hi bitch! Didn't see it was you until just now Bec; it should be done within the next month...

since I'm doing this all by myself, the map is taking a bit longer than normal.
Looks fab! Definitely going to download and play! The map's layout seems to be based on the Until Dawn area, which is awesome! Keep going; this sort of thing will benefit Planet Minecraft!
This map sounds really interesting, and look forward to playing it this map will definitely hit the charts ๐Ÿ˜€ #BlackWoodParkHYPE
