I realize I might be a little late to the party but I wanted to put my own spin on the 9/11 memorials, and it took longer than I thought it would. Instead of making something incorporating the Twin Towers I wanted to build the planes involved in the attacks as those don't get nearly as much attention at the actual victims of the attacks.

This is a replica of United Airlines Flight 93, this plane was targeted for an unconfirmed target in DC. It was originally on its way from Newark to San Francisco. Although the target is still mostly unconfirmed it has been mostly narrowed down to either The White House or The Capitol Building. Interesting facts about this flight include that around the time this plane took off the pilots were warned about the 9/11 attacks that had happened up to that point. When the hijacking started the pilots actually tried to fight back against the hijackers, but they failed. Later though the passengers attempted to take the plane back from the hijackers which later caused it to crash in an empty field in Shanksville, PA. There were no survivors, but they saved a lot more lives when they gave up their own. Still, all told almost 3000 civilians lost their lives on 9/11. This was the worst terrorist attack in history and the worst attack on US soil since Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941.
