Hello,
This time I'd like to present the White Castle and the church of San Giovanni del Monte. It's probably one of the best fortified strongholds in the city - state which serves as the headquarters of the Republic's army, well equipped and trained, but not numerous. It's located between the Vecchio and Cervo districts.
The complex is built with white marble and it's divided into three parts: the lower castle, where You can observe the superior officers' headquarters or stables, the medium castle, the smallest one, used mostly by the simple soldiers. The upper castle hosts a small stone residence of the Doge, a small garden and three towers, one of which is probably the highest building in the area (in fact, in the previous versions of the app it used to be the highest altitude allowed).
The church is located on a steep hill nearby. It's decorated with white and green marble and a sandstone. Due to its not welcoming location, it's rarely visited, and the hill serves as an observation point.
In the forthcoming submissions, before entering the suburban area, I'll present more details about each of the seven city's districts, presenting many other buildings which are not impressive enough (but still worth seeing) to present them in the separated submissions.
